Why these people keep pushing the idea that the government makes money off these contraceptives? Ridiculously non-sense arguments.

Most of these contraceptives will be tagged alongside RA 9502. The Cheaper Medicines Law (Republic Act 9502, the Universally Accessible Cheaper and Quality Medicines Act of 2008.


Here's how they work:

Through amendments to the Intellectual Property Code, the law allows and prods generics-producing firms to test, produce, and register their own versions of patented drugs, and prohibits the grant of new patents ( Some of these firms are located here in RP, meaning we create our own version of these drugs instead of relying heavily on imports from India,US and Germany).

And how the government get money off it? None, except from taxes. These firms are privately based groups of laboratories in no way connected with any Government agency.
