It seems that there's already a "soft-mod" of sorts to booting up game backups on Wii

The downside? You'll have your Wii permanently hooked to your PC

    From the scene:

<group name removed> have released a modified version of <name removed>'s DVD Tool that loads ISO's. Other sites are hyping this up as the best thing since sliced bread but, in reality, you still need to build the serial cable, have your Wii permanently hooked to the PC, and re-install the loader every time you want to run an ISO. This is not a "softmod" as nothing is permanently written to the Wii drive. It just injects the same Wiinja v1 code that was released last week to the drive temporarily, allowing the ISO to run. It is a working solution for those with the skills to use it but not a very convenient permanent replacement for a true fully functional modchip.
Hmmm... Best time to buy Wii na?
