Lex Leonum frat to probe law student's death


MANILA, Philippines - The fraternity allegedly responsible for the hazing rites that led to the death of San Beda College law student Marc Andrei Marcos on Friday denied involvement in the crime.

At a news conference on Friday, the Lex Leonum Fraternitas Alumni Association Inc. said it condemns the use of force in fostering brotherhood among its members.

The statement was read by lawyer Ariel Inton. The group also said it will conduct its own probe into Marcos' death.

"We don't belive in pwioer of force...and we appeal to te public to keep an open mind," the statement said.

The group also said its members are "professionals" who repect the rule of law and believe in the due process.

Marcos died of multiple organ failure Monday following suspected hazing rites at a farm in Cavite.

Gian Angelo Veluz, a law student at San Beda College - Alabang, is identified as among the suspects in Marcos' death.
