"Corrupt Officials"-- No one's perfect but at least let's choose those who can make a significant difference. I'm looking back the time of Marcos. He might have kept so much wealth of the countrymen but Philippines is not that poor at that time. It's the time wherein Philippine currency is nearly equal to US Dollar. I'm not promoting his bad deeds though. I just want to emphasize that we must consider not only how "good" as a person the official is but also his works as well.

Ganahan unta pud ko kana naay evident division of labor and medyo independent and interdependent ang cities/regions from each other. Sorry but IMHO, installing new/bigger/better drainage systems won't answer the flooding in our downtown areas. I know for sure because I've been here since forever and I've seen them install such drainage systems. Instead, I would suggest they spend money on information drive. Let people know the effects of being undisciplined - throwing garbage wherever you feel like it. Of course this won't be easy so maybe absolute enforcement of the "no littering" law should be enforced no questions asked so that people will "understand" the best way they can.

I love the initiative of this thread. Maybe TS you can summarize the valid suggestions of everyone on your first post and we'll pray the government will see and take action on some if not all of them.

Besides the above to solve the flooding in my backyard, I would suggest 1 thing, INSTALL CCTV CAMERAS IN ALL GOVERNMENT OFFICES ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE. This way, people can know right away if someone is late or is being an A$$ in his position.

Then, install CCTV cameras in areas where crive is rampant.

Where do we get the money for this? Well, if we paid for 200-300k "lamps" made in China, we should be able to pay 10,000 IP cameras. Don't you think?

This way, every crime committed should be solved in an instant and our courts won't be filled with petty crime cases.

Another thing I think worth improving is of course the public hospitals. If they were like chung hua, there would be lesser reason for people to migrate.

"Everything" is very broad. It would be nice if you can be more specific. Humans are not superheroes. We need to take things one step at a time. That's the least "we"(fellow countrymen) can do.

Thank you. I would try my best to have your responses be summarized on the first post. If ever some are erroneously stated, please feel free to address the corrections.

It's no just the Senators, it's the mayors and congressmen too:

    New York - 10 million people - 1 mayor
    Shanghai - 12 million people - 1 mayor
    Metro Manila - 11 million people - 17 mayors

    Inefficiency by the numbers
