Having a APS sensor is not unfortunate but it has its advantages. Here are some advantages
- It gives you more reach when doing macro without lost of pixel count
- APS bodies tend to use the sweet spot of the lens so you reduce the risk of having vignetting and distortion
The output will definitely depend on what your shooting and not with what are you shooting with..
1. Go out and shoot.
2. Repeat step 1.

Being a very technical person, and honestly, I'm still more of a technician than an artist, what really helped me when I first started out was a DVD Guide called Magic Lantern: Great Photos.
Always FART before you shoot Bro. Then you KISS ....
For TS, you just did one important step to improve your photography...that's posting your question here and soliciting knowledge and experience of regular photogs. This actually benefited other newbs who are shy about asking questions regarding this craft or hobby as this thread is starting to become a repository of tips and information about photography.
