agree, he's trying to build up his confidence. but i guess it was overconfidence for him on the dying seconds of the game vs FEU.

IMHO, I think we here in iSTORYA are expecting a little too much from Tallo (the UAAP thread has become more of a 'Tallo Watch'). Come on guys, I've watched almost every game so far and while it doesn't show on the scoreboard Tallo isn't doing very bad. Let's not forget it's still his rookie year! He's been doing what he does best: handling the ball, slashing, and kicking the ball out to the open teammate. Let's face it:

    1) As long as Revilla is there, Tallo will not be the leader of the team. That doesn't necessarily mean he won't be productive. After Revilla, Tallo I believe is the best PG on the team and if he works hard to improve he will tandem with Jeron Teng in the future as the cornerstones of DLSU.

    2) The kind of play Tallo showed while in CIT (where he dominates each possession and has free hand with the ball) does not and will not work in the UAAP. So don't expect to see that version of him show up. If he hopes to make it to the pros his game has to mature and I'm sure that's what Gee Abanilla is trying to teach Tallo as early as now. Imagine, even Terrence Romeo who scored 80+ in the Jrs. now has to content himself with highs of 23 and has learned to play with RR Garcia.

    3) If you're expecting Tallo to be as productive as Kiefer Ravena, don't hold your breath. You have to admit that Tallo does not have the scoring ability Ravena has. Ravena is a combo guard whose game will thrive in a system like Norman Black's. Tallo is more of a PURE POINT GUARD. Ravena has been playing in the limelight longer and consequently has matured, more than Tallo at least. In short, they are different players and it's unfair to Tallo to have Ravena as a yardstick.

    4) Gee Abanilla is still tweaking his lineup. The only clear thing is that he relies on Revilla, Jeron Teng and Norbert Torres to do most of the work. Everyone else's playing time depends on matchups and their respective performances. Given DLSU's guard-heavy lineup, I'm sure Tallo has seen that coming so it's up to him to prove that he deserves that exposure. He will get there, as can be seen from his flashes of brilliance in the games so far.

(Again, sayang lang gyud iyang decision to bolt Ateneo kay I believe he's better than Nico Elorde. He would've been perfect in Ateneo this season. But even if he were in Ateneo he still would've only been a distributor and not a scorer. The sooner we come to grips with that, the better.)

Tallo isn't the only one we Cebuanos can watch out for and talk about. There's also Henry Asilum who's been doing pretty good so far in UP. Of course there's Oping Sumalinog, playing in his final year of eligibility and who has been dubbed as Ateneo's Bruce Bowen this season. Kris Porter isn't getting PT yet but he's playing for the RP Under-18 Team and is seen to be an Enrico Villanueva-caliber player. Those Cebuano products deserve our attention also.
