Club 3D launched the Radeon HD 7970 royalAce graphics card (model: CGAX-7977SO). The HD 7970 GHz Edition card tops off the Poker series the company launched in late-April, and combines "SuperOverclock" clock speeds with the company's CoolStream cooling solution.
The European graphics card vendor, which goes by the catchy slogan "play your cards right," with a club in its logo, launched its Poker series of factory-overclocked graphics cards earlier this year, in late-April. The hierarchy in a deck of cards is used to denote the level of overclocking/exclusivity. You see where this is going, with the Ace. Club 3D HD 7970 royalAce is based on the newer Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition chip (features PowerTune with Boost).
The Club 3D Radeon HD 7970 royalAce ships with GPU clock speeds of 1,050 MHz (GPU base), 1,100 MHz (GPU boost), and 6.00 GHz (memory, GDDR5 effective); against AMD reference clock speeds of 1,000/1,050/6,000 MHz (core/core boost/memory effective). The card packs 3 GB of memory across a 384-bit wide memory interface.
Club 3D deployed its trusty CoolStream cooling solution with the HD 7970 royalAce. The cooler uses a large aluminum fin heatsink, to which heat is fed by four 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes, and which is ventilated by two 80 mm fans. The main heatsink appears to cool the GPU and memory, while a secondary heatsink is used to cool the VRM area. Power is drawn from a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCIe power connector. The OEM of this card appears to be TUL.
