Default Android Tablets, are these models salable? I need your thoughts...

    Hello Istoryans,

I just want to ask around and see what is the general feedback of Android users here. I have been asked to start a business in selling Android tablets. Not the ones you see sa Colon or any part in downtown. These are upscale tablets that are labelled as "generic" by its factories in China.

Here's something I know. These tablets are actually from manufacturers of tablet brands like Viewsonic, Samsung and I forgot the other brands. I've been given sample products by a trusted friend in China and it honestly works well). Anyway, I have tried selling this in the US and had customized labelling for a specific company there and so far, giganahan sila and bought them in bulk. They had the specs compared and verified with the branded ones and its actually the same as the other models.

So now I am more convinced that these tablets might be a good business potential. As to how far, that I don't know. For now, I will just post 2 sample product list to give you guys a reference.

Now, here's my question. I'm trying to check if these tablets can actually be sold here in Cebu with warranty parts and labor) for 1 year. Do I have potential buyers kaha? So mga Android fans, please give me your honest opinion. The prices I indicated are rough estimates ra, most definitely it will go down pa.

NOTE: I am not selling these tablets on this thread. I'm simply shopping for opinions and feedback from everyone here. Sorry if taas kaayo akong post.

With the choices you posted, you can go for option 1. However, I would suggest for you to wait for Nexus 7 16 GB. It is within the price range of product 1 however it has a better chip set (quadcore 1.3Ghz) and a 12 core nvidia chip and it is from Google and Asus. You may have to wait till September for it to be available in the country. If you want to buy it now, you can try via ebay at $320 plus $45 shipping.

The second one you posted looks similar and available at cdrking for 4000pesos. Its an OEM like player momo which I have.
Ployer Momo9 7 Inch Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Capacitive Touch Screen 1.6GHz 8GB DDR3 Super Slim Tablet PC - 2160P & 3D Output - Flash 11.1 - New Google Play installed - All iPlayers and Flash Content Compatible, Skype Video Calling - YouTub
I'm sure the first is also an OEM but it also looks similar to cdrking fastpad XON selling for 7k. These tablets are quite good. I would rather get these if its an android tab where competition is good. The nexus has no hdmi, no external memory option and would probably sell locally for 12-15k. Its an advantage for the android that they can offer a wide range of prices. I don't see the big selling point of expensive android tablets.
With the Ipad I'm stuck with apple since they're the only one that produces IOS device but I need it for Unity3D.

another thing to consider is if it has a lot of firmware and online community supports like the onda and the ainol brand. they are both china slates but you can find a lot of community support over the net and they also update thier firmaware every now and then.

para na ko, brand is important.

1st, Upgrade support for OS, most branded tabs have dedicated teams in supporting upgrading their tabs. kung wala man, kay naa man sad dedicated private individual. I have LG and the upgrade option sa OS sa ako phone takes SOOOOOOOooooooo long but naa nay hack versions nga IceCream. Android IceCream is almost a year now, and wala pa upgrade available for LG Phones. my friends have other brands but since it's an unknown brand, they are stuck at Android 2.xx (eclair or froyo). some companies no longer supports upgrading their phone's OS.
My prefered brand for tab/phone now are Samsung/Google/Asus.

why is this important? because some apps/games works only on the latest OS.

2nd, warranty, kung maguba na nga item, asa man na namo(nimo) ipadala? sa china?
compared sa samsung/asus diri sa cebu kay naay office.

3rd, sa first option nimo, naay Samsung Galaxy tab 2 which cost around 12k. Is that first option really worth it compare sa samsung brand? There's also Google Nexus 7 which cost arround $199-$250, can it compete?

pero kanang 5k-6k, pede pa guro na. Kay naay daghan guro mupalit basta barato lang. Many really dont care about what i posted above. ang importante is barato para nila. ESPECIALLY if marked as ICECREAM android nga 5k. Interested ko basta Icecream, naay daghan news about $99 icecream tablet from China, wala pa ko kita run sa pinas but im interested to try this out. kung ma impress ko, paliton dayun nako.

hello techie istoryans. Thanks for your reply. I understand the requirement for software and hardware support. I worked as a Technical Manager before so I know the intricacy of post sale services and warranty issues. Akoa naman ni gi tan aw and my partner agreed to train specific techs here for hardware support. But it won't be as grand compared to Samsung, LG, and other warranty support establishments. Normally software issues does not cover any device, may it be tablets , computers, cellphones, the most that can be done are through reinstallation of its OS. So discretion na sa owner if he wants to tinker on the software side (upgrades, downgraides, etc....).

Now I can either sell these tablets at very low prices and with reasonable time frame for unit replacements and exclude warranty so walay labad on my part. But mo impose ug warranty then it can be done, but mao lagi 30 days ang specified lead time. Hhhhmm....as a consumer myself I know murag taas taas ang huwat.

So quality wise, yes they are good! Competitive even since these are "unbranded" tablets from the same manufacturers of branded tablets. Gi remove lang nila. Ang akoa lang, selling it is not an issue. I'm sure daghan mo palit ani, but warranty support is another headache.

My initial budget for this business is $3,000 so instead of going ahead and order this from my contact...Mamasin sa ko sa general feedback diri, kay basig mahalinan ko diri sa Istorya then mabutang niya ta sa "bogus" seller. lol! Maguba atong repu ani, plus ma alkanse ko sa akong investment. Dako dako nasad baya na nga budget.

Keep your comments coming please...I really appreciate it!

Bai, good luck sa imo business venture and God bless...

if you want my advice, i think you need to lower your prices..there are lots of good "generic" tablets out there that are priced lower thanj yours...take for example, Ainol...Ainol, though can't be considered as well known brand..is very much recognized in different Android forums in the world...if you want to compete with them, then you have to match their prices as well... Aurora 2 is only about 7,900 more or less now a days... mao lang ni akoa boss... thanks...

im definitely interested in china tabs that are higher up in the food scale.. as long as there's good feedback to those who've tried it na. not really much of a techie, i cant decide on specs alone.. so on that i cant help but i know there's people on istorya who are willing to try out new gadgets as long as they see that the specs are competitive.. and i know i have friends who want to buy the cheaper tabs compared to the branded ones kay in my community.. tabs are very very helpful so most people i know want to migrate to tabs but cant because of price consideration with the branded ones being offered. but ive friends na who have ainol tabs and gamay na exploring nalang basta competitive lang ang specs and lower a bit sa branded nga prices, they would purchase.

The tabs are good, and by the looks of it. It has a potential to sell. Your target could be schools, or private institutions where tablets will become a necessity.

Sa amoang gi skwelahan karon, maybe next year. Mo offer na silag tablets para sa ilang mga estudyante. So therefore, this is a good business at its early stage. Hospitals, Schools, Businesses will soon need your tablets.
