July19-20,2012 Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa

Hi Guys, I just want to share my experience on this event.

29 candidates - 19 photographers - 8 stations/locations to shoot.
19 photographers divided into 8 groups. Each group has at least 2 or 3 members (bunot2x style)
Each station has 3-4 candidates and we were given 15minutes to shoot on each location.
Each group has its own assistant to guide on where to go and will check the time.
(Registration fee for this event btw is 2k)
5 entries each photographer > RAW and Jpeg copies should be burn in a cd and 5R print
(Deadline 9pm July 19, Exposure SM CITY)

Supposed to be we will start shooting at 1pm. But the organizer told us that there was a delay on their flight from Manila. So while waiting they allow us to take a few shots while the candidates are doing ramp modeling inside a hall/room/conference room w/c is supposed to be exclusive for the media (maybe it was just 15-20mins coz its almost done) So we went outside for a briefing about the guidelines on where to shoot/policy/etc.....
Our assistant/guide lead us to our first spot. Im in group #2 with Franciso(wala ko nangutana if istoryan cya).

It was 2pm and still waiting.
Hayyy nag testshot2x, na bored, nag suroy2x sa resort, nag chika2x sa uban na photographers, gutom na(wa gyud ko nipalit food didto kay i know dollars lol). 3pm na, still waiting. One of their staff told us that na nag makeup2x pa/hair churvaness and so on. 4pm na, finally! (so it was 3hrs of waiting and its getting dark na)

Group 1 was able to shoot first then group 3 and group 2 tsktsk. Naguba na ang routine coz supposed to be each stations naa nay mga candidates then every after 15mins each group will transfer from one station to another until mhman ang 8 stations. So in our first assignment medyo adjust2x pa, samok lang kay ang background naay mga bata, i duno why wala nila gin pa hawa for that event anyway its just for 2hrs.

So as we continue in our routine, so far so good but given its 15minutes so if 4 candidates it will be 3-4mins each. Its really a test of your skills,not enough time to do test shots,not enough time to think on what pose you want the model to do unless experience na cya sa modeling kay wa na prob. But most of them sila na bahala mag pose/sila pa mu suggest na kani ra or muhigda ba cya or barog or anything(just a few instructions nlang) but some of them ikaw gyud mu guide (kusos to my partner). We plan pa na every station mag group shot mi together with the candidates but 15mins is not enough. so murag. alright next. take shots, 3-5 or 10 shots diff. pose in 3mins each model whew!
Its really a challenge. Kapoi but we enjoy man. Most of the time I will ask the candidate, english/tagalog/bisaya hehehe just to make sure.

On one station medyo naay delay coz knang mga apo daw sa owner sa resort mag pa picture sa model.
So we transferred from one station to another, 5pm na, its getting dark. Good thing nagdala ko flash,im thinking not to bring it coz its an outdoor shoot and a sunny afternoon. Bilib gyud ko sa uban, complete ingredients, nka strobing sila. Me and my partner just depend on the natural light/flash.So medyo lisod na mag shoot mga almost 6 kay ngit2x na gyud. At 6-6:30pm, they told us to stop na coz ngit2x na. In our group we missed 2 stations. Some group mga 3 stations cgro.

About the submission of entries, 9pm daw ang deadline. We explain to them na dmd mka submit kmi. Travel time from Maribago-Cebu cgro 30-45mins or max of an hour depende sa traffic. ako nag jeep lang then sa mandaue nko nag taxi - Lahug. Ang partner nko kay from Consolacion then SM city pa mu sbmit so dmd gyud. Plus edit2x pa gamay, you will check pa all the pics then printing that will take time. I'm not expecting to win(but who knows, daug man gani si Bradley lol) but at least fare and nka sabot sila why we cant submit on time. So we asked if pwede next day. July 20, between 10-11pm(July20 sa gabii ang awarding). Hayy naa pko duty 3am ganiha.. So they said na 9pm daw, kay wa pa sila kahbaw if they will allow na the next day na. Mao na ang concern sa mga photographers last night. Mu text lang sila if they will change it but wala man. D na cgro ko ka submit, i duno with the others.

Anyways, daghan ko nakita na familiar faces but i dont know their names, naa man gyud sila sa mga events, fashion shows, etc... And sa 2years ko na nag join sa sinulog photocontest naa man sila, naa man to from Cebu Event Photog. I know some of them cgro mga istoryan but wala nko nag ask.

The positive side of this event was it will really test your skills,creativity,confidence,teamwork and experience.

Naa man contestant ang Cebu City/Lapu2x and San Carlos so bisaya and one from Bacolod. The rest from Luzon and Filams, i duno if someone from Mindanao.

pwde man gamit flash. no limit if unsa gamiton nimo na accessories. yah wa mi nahumankay ngit2x na...

nagtawag ko sa exposure 10am daw ganiha deadline. nag pa print ko sa JY kodak 10am kay 10 man gyud mu open mga malls. nag taxi ko padung sm, traffic, abot ko 10:30. naa nman didto uban na photographers. dli na daw na pwede kay 10am gyud daw, 5 lang out of 19 photogs ang nka submit. nag cut ra ko sa trabaho para ka submit. wa na edit2x, print dayun lol no chance of winnning, not enough time to choose w/c pic i will submit, 9pm nko nka uli gabii, then work at 3am hehehe..

anyways, murag ako ra ang pinkabati na picture hehehe naulaw ko.. ninduta sa kuha sa uban oi... kudos!
naa man gyud taga istorya.. if kinsa ka post here nlang hehehe
