You don't need Polaris to align your EQ mount--all you need is a magnetic compass. Just 40 pesos from national bookstore.

    Follow these steps

    1. Butang ang compass sa yuta. Wait until needle settles, then draw a line with chalk or charcoal that indicates the north-south line. You don't have to be 100% accurate...approximate line is okay.

    2. ibutang ang mount+scope on top of this line. Make sure that the RA-axis (polar) of your mount is pointing or aligned on the north-south line. Meaning dapat the tube/barrel of the RA-axis is pointing to the North (mas taas), and the lower end of the barrel is pointed south (mas mubo).

    3. Make sure your EQ mount is set to the correct elevation (in the case of cebu, mga 11 degrees).

    4. Test your RA-rotation...Kung mosangko ang counterweight sa EQ, then you will need a riser/post para dili mosangko.

    5. You're all set.

    Schmidt-Cassegrain (Catadioptric) on GOTO mount (motorized/autotrack) = 35,000-50,000.00

    Catadioptric on Vixen-type EQ mounts (motorized/autotrack) = 70,000-150,000.00

    Large-aperture APO-type refractors on EQ mounts (motorized/autotrack) = 70,000-200,000.00

12" (or bigger) Catadioptric on EQ mount (motorized/autotrack) = 200,000-1+ million.
