same thing happened to me. i change to a different usb port (kato lain na usb controller, my mobo had two usb controller chips) and it worked. usb hardware issue to sa ako-a. hope it helps.

USB hardware jd problema nako, XP raman gud ko. Dli mo auto install sa driver. Hehe pero naa naman ko lain. So baligya ko nalang ni.
