Hi Digi,
As the thread mentions, my vision is a Bank for OFW'S RUN BY OFW'S FOR OFW'S. Land Bank is Government Bank. If people are sick and tired of the hopelessness and kind of service of the Government Agencies, and how its supports its people; this will lead us to nowhere. I have been there and till now fighting teeth and claw with Landbank. Landbank has a mandate to support re-integration 2 Billion. I got screwed. This is why I got inspired to start an OFW Bank with zero capital and only desire and dreams for starters.

Hence, earning of the OFW bank will be directed to support of the OFW's, their insurance plan, their health plan, their college plan, their future and should they decide to go to business act as an advisory entity to make sure the business succeeds.

I lost my college-plans for my kids just like a bubble in the air. Now I am now my knees and hands struggling to get them to college. The already rich - stole my college plans for my kids, so painful. Why make the rich richer and get all the benefits from those who labour-in the deserts of the middle east, sweat, blood, tears, separation anxiety, broken homes. Later this rich get all the money and run away, look at those banks that are closing, in my previous post.

OFW's can do something for OFW's and let them enjoy the fruits of their labour. A bank OF THE OFW'S BY OFW'S AND FOR OFW'S. We are not parasites and can stand and contribute to the countries growth and prosperity. Now is the time, we can do something better for OFW's(friends-relatives) and Country. The Philippines is our homeland, there is nothing like it. There is no country so blessed with so much richness. Richness both seen and unseen. Richness in people and resources. There is no need for greed, hunger or violence, there is more than enough for everyone to be happy, healthy and at peace with all. Above all only in the Philippines can we enjoy life without stress of being treated like slaves in other countries. ( If only you hear how other nationalities mock our fellow workers especially our Filipina Maids, so painful - "xes" machine feed by rice...wow...ang sakit)

Very very very very very good question. Let's brainstorm. How do banks run their business ?? How do they trust their CEO's, CFO's, GM's, etc., How does Henry Sy run BDO ? Does he need to have "trusted" people? The CEO, CFO is an OFW or ex-OFW, down the line. All officers must submit all SALN's, his wife, brother and sisters, sons and daughters and father and mother, brother in law and mother in law. and fully audited-verified and published in the Internet. If you want to be a bank officer. All officers must submit to full transparency and verification. There will be a separate OFW independent auditing group.

There will be bad eggs along the line, but we will make it very difficult for bad eggs to survive. They will be detected immediately because an OFW-rotten egg, will always smell. All bank officers will have their SALN's posted in the INTERNET. Officers will be paid the best of pay in the Philippines very competitive like other banks.

If there is anything you can add to make it "corruption proof". We will have a battery of lawyers who will prosecute those who are caught stealing. We will publish the names of the family and family members of the cheater. These are the OFW officer who dare cheat the lowly OFW. Let the lawyers think about how to prosecute those things. That is what we pay them for. If you are OFW and you intend to cheat, think about this before dragging your family. We just saw that in the last trial of the century.

If you think that is not enough and too harsh or have a better suggestion post it. Or if you think we should be kind hearted to cheaters and be forgiving and love them, be understanding to cheaters and liars because we are also sinners and they should be treated fairly, let us know.

We don't need "TRUST" and "TRUST WORTHY PEOPLE" we need a "mechanism or process flow" to protect our "TRUST". TO GOD BE THE GLORY. ONLY IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS MUST PAY CASH.(How about that - motto for the OFW bank)

2008, I had the opportunity to work in Singapore. A city state yet that have have "fighter jets" and "apache helicopters", a military trained by "Israeli commandos" for a population of say 5 million. A land area as big as perhaps as Cebu Province or smaller ? The latest in the state of the art technology. A mix of many races and religion operating in "sync". Super efficient systems and productivity. Yes, all these years, I have been thinking and thinking what makes these people succeed and with everybody so much. Are these people-Singaporeans specially bred with engineered genes and with the mind of astrophysicist and rocket scientists? So small a country yet so rich they can afford so much yet they have no natural resources.

On the other hand Philippines a country so big, so rich, so much resources so much of the population are poor(in mind). The Philippines, the highest coast line I think bigger than China, yet so backward, with 4.5 million Filipinos involuntarily hungry every day. So much of the population is exploited and thus have to seek opportunity elsewhere, go abroad to be enslaved by foreigners. The richness(80% of the wealth) of this country is shared by 10% of the population while 90% have to fight over the crumbs and left overs-remaining 20% of the wealth. For those who cannot stand the heat and fight over the crumbs(20%) and left over or go abroad.

Be that as it may, we now have a choice and future. Whether we keep on complaining(bagulbol) about how useless the government is, corruption, poverty, environmental degradation and abuse of our forest, mountains, seas, lakes and minerals, or do we take charge of this. We take charge of our future. No matter how much money you take into the country, if you are surrounded by the same environment and system all will go to waste. For evil surrounding and environment to exist and prevail it is enough that good men do nothing.

The parasites will eat you up. The government cannot protect you just as it did to my savings for my children's college assurance plan. There are better options and better future. Singapore has made it. They are not a nation of geniuses. Most Filipinos there are the backbone of the companies. We can do better here and better than Singapore. We can do better in our home court. We can achieve far better than what Singapore has achieved. We have the best and the brightest. We just have to step out of our comfort zone.

Bright Ideas you have. So why don't we open another thread Party-List for OFW? Brainstorm and solicit FREE advise, then synthesize the concepts and select what is good and let's get the ball rolling. Let Party-List be Born, others have already conceived it(in their minds). We need all the bright ideas and get it working. Everything starts with a dream and vision of what we want to achieve for the good of our families, community and country. Then to God be Glory. We can have a OFW-Bank supported by a Party-List, "Sister companies". Great !!

Likewise, COOP for OFW's? Can it do international banking? Transact with foreign banks etc., We have to think global and exploit the power of the internet. Can you research on your proposal or perhaps Open another thread on Coop's. Many will shoot it down, but we need ideas of the best and brightest among OFW's.

After we consolidate those ideas we need people who have the drive, very very very very strong DRIVE to see this through thick and thin. We have to overcome the DE-mons and DE-vils around us that seek to DE-vide, De-stroy, De-ceive, Dis-courage, create Dis-trust, Dis-unity. As long as we are divided, discourage, disunited, it will be easy for the DE-vil and the DE-mon to deceive and destroy us, our country and continue to exploit us, instead of being a happy, healthy and in harmony with nature and in peace with our brethren. We shall use all the God given, natural resources for the benefit of our people, instead of foreign "investors" destroying our lands and giving bribes to those in position. We have a very very rich country, so much to share. We just have to work smart. Then after all this, to God be the Glory.(Lest I be branded-stigmatized as a communist or socialist)

Very interestingly your pen-name "eve-apple" sort of very timely, The "apple" the first grand DE-ception of the DE-vil. Don't be Dis-courage by what happened to other banks, when God is with you, who can be against you. Let us not eat the fruit of De-ception. We have to cast this away from our minds and believe we shall succeed. Yes we can. If these LBC banks failed plus 41 others, the Devil-Demon continues to plant this seed of greed-arrogance in the hearts-minds of others. We can do better than that, we can be better than Singapore.

If Singapore(it has been an inspirational experience to work there) has reached levels of richness far beyond any other country in Asia(except Japan) - without any resources. What more our country. It has all the richness and resources, for seen and unseen. Unless, we take charge of our future, we will continue to be De-ceived.

We must not take that "apple" of deception in our heart, minds and body, instead find place with the "Love of God, Love of Country and Love of Fellowmen". We shall overcome, someday...

^^ ang problema bai kay dili ra ang pag-open sa Bank. ang problema kay ang pagsalig sa tao. Kapila naman gud napaso ang tao ani bai. Daghan na kaayo banks with credible history but ni fail because of bad investments & possibly mismanagement of funds. I admire your passion on changes, it is a dream of not only shared by a handful few but millions of us bai. we all want to change & improve our status. pero this idea of a bank will be very hard. Might not be impossible if we have funds like pacman. Pero kung walay funds bai, tagilid jud ta ana. sad to say bai but lisod jud basta money na ang storyahan. Sorry i have nothing more to share, wa sad kaayo ko kabalo sa padagan og banks. Keep it up lang bai, basin pag naay makashare nga makatabang.

OT: parehas ra ta og hunahuna bai. I always believe nga dili Purdoy ang pinas, we are just being deceive by our politicians (& perhaps Media & the church). Para na sa ilang hakog nga plano na masulod nila sa ilang bulsa ang atong hinaguan. We can become a great nation again someday, but unfortunately today is not the day.
