sa tanan na 18-200 range ako na testingan so far ang Nikon the best.. compact, silent and fast.. it's not the sharpest lens of the bunch but it will do... mao ni ang workhorse nako nga lens for shooting jsut about anything... just recently gud as in today lang ko naka bantay ug vignette at higher focal range...

Canon nga 18-200 is bulky and noisy mao rah akong complain.. quality ummm.. it's okay.. slightly softer comparing to Nikon...

Sigma(and most 3rd party lens) 18-200 kinda bulky and is kinda slow with f/6.3 aperture..

to sum up sa tanan na 18-200... it's just a super zoom nga kit lens...

note: ang ako na testing is the 18-200 range.. wa ko ka try ug 18-2xx nah range..

    ---

best answer gud sa imo question is this question.. "unsa man gud imo gusto i.shoot?"... if wa ka sure unsa imo gusto i.shoot stick with your kit lens.. or if gusto ka "all in one" 18-200. If gusto ka mo shoot ug birds or wild life get a long zoom minimum of 300mm.. if gusto ka portraits.. naa ka option of 50mm (for crop), 85mm or 105/100mm.. landscape ad2 ka sa wide 35mm and below (full frame) if dx start with 18mm down... or hilig ka mga food or micro photography ad2 ka ug macro lens 50mm (canon), 40mm (nikon), 60mm (nikon), 105mm (nikon) or 100mm (canon).. wedding ka or events get the 2.8 lens one wide 17-55 for dx or cropped then 16-35 or 17-40(canon) or 12-24, 10-24(nikon) then parisan with a long zoom.. 70-200 f/2.8...

conclusion: daghan gud "nindot" nga lens depende sa unsa imo gusto i.shoot.. pero if wa ka sure mag kit lens nalng hantod 100% sure na ka gusto ka mo shoot ana.. dali ra nah ma hibaw.an kay dili ka magutana ug unsa nindot nga lens.. manguata ka ug focal length.. and more specific na gud ang imong gi pangita..or get a dedicated(brand) flash and/or a sturdy tripod

Check out what you like shoot most often first then evaluate which range would fit your preferred photography. Since you are looking for a walk around lens, make sure your lens would have VR, OS or VC to counter camera shake when shooting hand held especially in low light conditions.
indeed 18-200mm is a very nice WALK AROUND lens, on my experienced with Sigma 18-200mm lens, done a very ood job it suits my need specially when i go out of town.... it has its limitation thou... it is very inutile for night shots.... the reason why i always bring my nifty-fifty... but soo far im satisfied with 18-200mm even with its very slow AF im still satisfied... i just compensate the lacking of my trusty old lens... beside i dont have the need to shoot long distance at night...

ever since i got this baby i never took it off from my cam only if i need to shoot at night that i need to mount my fifty...

If you don't mind, what's your current lense? Normally, the kit lens will suffice especially the 18-105mm since it gives you a decent range from landscape to candid shots for human interest. The sigma 17-70mm is ok too but can be short on range if you want to do sniping for candid shots.
