Most domestic banks nowadays have products tailor-fitted for OFWs. Even Mitsubishi have their own package for OFWs when they purchase the Adventure..

Every lending company loves OFW's who have a contract and sending in dollars. They will check your bankbooks and remittances indeed. Banks loves OFW's who are sending in dollars and give you all the red carpet treatment. I have been there and that is only half of the story.

Banks love OFW's. For a moment try to be an OFW without a job/contract. You want to start your business(loan with BDO) and see-verify what BDO will provide for you. What are their requirements to help you start your business? Study their requirements and see if you will love them also as they love you now that you have your money with them.

Good Question. Let us brainstorm. If you were the part-owner of an OFW bank, what would you want to give your clients(fellow OFW's) that others do not give? What privileges would you provide for an OFW?

From the remittances and exchange rates earned, etc., don't you think you can provide better contingencies-benefits for your fellow OFW's. The tendency of most people is to blame the government, OWWA, POEA, etc., instead of blaming and whining how lousy our government agencies are, don't you think we can start doing something better than what the government can do and provide for the OFW's ? As what the late JFK said, ask what you can do for your country not what your country can do for you.

asa man pud ka mangitag banko nga mupa loan ug dako sa mga OFW nga no strings attached? business is business. regardless tailored for OFW imong bank. ang owwa gani way nahut mupa loan nga OFW-centric na sila although dili bank. i doubt if makakita ming mga OFW's ana. and if naay start up bank's kunuhay nga para sa OFW, i won't have any second thoughts not trusting startup banks. daghan na kaayong mga banks nayabo. i won't risk my hard earned money on a start-up bank. a bank is a bank regardless. its just that target market is for OFW's. i doubt it will survive.

What do OFW's know about banking ?? What do OFW's know about business management ?? Why would an OFW take care of another OFW ?? Why would an OFW benefit from the savings of another OFW ?? Why not let other expert banks benefit from OFW savings and remittances ? Banks with OFW's deposit surely loves OFW's.

Sorry, Mr. De Leon, But what has POEA got to do with OFW Bank Thread ? Not sure I understand your point in raising this matter with POEA ?

Hi Digi,
As the thread mentions, my vision is a Bank for OFW'S RUN BY OFW'S FOR OFW'S. Land Bank is Government Bank. If people are sick and tired of the hopelessness and kind of service of the Government Agencies, and how its supports its people; this will lead us to nowhere. I have been there and till now fighting teeth and claw with Landbank. Landbank has a mandate to support re-integration 2 Billion. I got screwed. This is why I got inspired to start an OFW Bank with zero capital and only desire and dreams for starters.

Hence, earning of the OFW bank will be directed to support of the OFW's, their insurance plan, their health plan, their college plan, their future and should they decide to go to business act as an advisory entity to make sure the business succeeds.

I lost my college-plans for my kids just like a bubble in the air. Now I am now my knees and hands struggling to get them to college. The already rich - stole my college plans for my kids, so painful. Why make the rich richer and get all the benefits from those who labour-in the deserts of the middle east, sweat, blood, tears, separation anxiety, broken homes. Later this rich get all the money and run away, look at those banks that are closing, in my previous post.

OFW's can do something for OFW's and let them enjoy the fruits of their labour. A bank OF THE OFW'S BY OFW'S AND FOR OFW'S. We are not parasites and can stand and contribute to the countries growth and prosperity. Now is the time, we can do something better for OFW's(friends-relatives) and Country. The Philippines is our homeland, there is nothing like it. There is no country so blessed with so much richness. Richness both seen and unseen. Richness in people and resources. There is no need for greed, hunger or violence, there is more than enough for everyone to be happy, healthy and at peace with all. Above all only in the Philippines can we enjoy life without stress of being treated like slaves in other countries. ( If only you hear how other nationalities mock our fellow workers especially our Filipina Maids, so painful - "xes" machine feed by rice...wow...ang sakit)
