So if i will upgrade to LP9, will the phone be the same as upgrading to LQ2 since the ROM is stock?
kabasa ko sa XDA nga ang mga upgraded to ICS mabrick if imong i-wipe using recovery mode (sa mga cooked Rom?).

Unsaon pag revert back to stock GB rom just in case ay gusto nako suwayan both the LQ2 and LP9.

when your going to flash to LP9, yes it will still be the same as LQ2, carrier, tweaks and customizations on per regions are all that matters pero same ra ghapon imong version sa ICS... which is 4.0.3

Look for Dr Ketan's thread in XDA to revert from stock ICS to stock GB. From there you can flash to any stock ICS you want. Just don't flash and fully wipe your phone (when your in ICS) because your device would be tantamount to getting the hardbrick bug.

    Naglibog ko.

@ istoryan99 was saying if coming from custom to official rom doing resetting/wipingdata/cache dunay chance nga ma-brick (a asume custom ICS) becasue of the eMMC bug.

@Abz you seem to indicate bisan official ICS ROM the device is tantamount to being bricked if flashing and fully wiping the phone.
So naa diay gihapon high risk nga ma-brick ang phone on ICS ROM bisag official siya?
Why man kaha daghan gihapon nga upgrade to ICS despite the possibility of hardbricking when on ICS.

Haaay unsa kaha akong maayong himuon noh?

So did you guys upgrade to ICS or remained on GB?

Guy when i changed my simcard to Smart, naay notice nga migawas for an update.
Unsa ni siya nga update ICS specific sa Philippines.
Is OTA update specific to the simcard/carrier you are using?
While the Kies update is specific to the country where your phone was intended to be?

Like in my case when on DSL online Kies adviced an available update which i found is Ireland/UK ICS.

Another thing since when on DSL online, it advised an ICS ireland/UK update, dies it mean my stock GB is also Ireland/UK?

there was also a confusion in XDA Note's thread on that. Whether you can still brick your Note even in Stock ICS, released by Sammy or brick it with a custom ROM.. but even up to now, it still a confounding mystery on what is really the underlying cause to trigger the hardbrick bug. Some even had said that just by merely rooting your phone, you are tantamount to getting that hardbrick bug already (because you are opening doors to flash custom roms after that).

STOCK ICS ROMS can still trigger that brickbug (look up in XDA on Samsung's official German release stock ICS and you'll get your answer)

What you should do is check your eMMC chip first by downloading the gotbrickbug app (released by ChainFire) and see if your chip falls in line to being bitten by the hardbrick bug.

What you should do? for now,if your in STOCK OFFICIAL ICS already, then remain as it is. If you have rooted your phone, then remain it rooted. If your still in GB then it is perfectly fine to update to official ICS in Kies as it does not fully wipe your phone after the upgrade.

I have upgraded to LP9 already and rooted after immediately.

You need to check what is your CSC on the phone, OTA updates are usually push by your Carrier to your phone.

Where did you bought your phone by the way? UK? As far as I know stock GB does not give you some indication on what countries it falls to... only your CSC on the phone can tell you if it's set to UK/Europe region or Phil/Singapore/Malaysia/Asian region.

    CSC: N7000XEULA1 - Europe

Kies update notice indicated an Ireland/UK ICS.
If the phone was set to UK/Europe region, why would it specifically advice an available update Ireland ICS?
I would assume the OTA was Smart ICS.
I'm still on GB as i don't want to hasten things and regret later on. Bought it online here in Philippines.

i think i'll just stick to GB for now and perhaps upgrade later when i have learned all about this.

If you bought your Note online, that means to say, the original place where your Note was sold was in UK/Europe.

No wonder Kies detected it as an update on UK ICS and not on Asian /Singapore LP9 ICS.

If I we're you (I guess later on since you still needs a lot of studying and reading in all of this), you just need to change your configuration CSC file in your phone:

REMEMBER: Before doing this, Please backup all information on the internal memory /Storage of your phone, e.g. Phone contacts, SMS, pictures save on the phone itself and etc, as this will erase everything on your phone's memory and storage.

    1) Find the IMEI# of your Samsung Galaxy Note, Just go in to Setting –> About phone –> Status and look for the IMEI# number and note it down.

    2) Type *#272*Device IMEI# in the dial pad of your device.

    3) Now select the desired CSC. (you need to see if there is a CSC Code 'XTC or XTE', -these codes are for the Philippine CSCs) You can select that and when you click 'Ok'

    4) Your device will automatically reboot afterwards and go to the factory reset process.

5.) Repeat step 2 after you've done doing the phone setup again and check if your phone's CSC is already XTC or XTE (depends on what you've selected on step. 3. Just CANCEL it after verifying that it is already of the desired CSC.

6.) After that you can safely plug back your phone to KIES on the PC and KIES should now detect your local CSC as Asian and would be prompting you to upgrade to the DXLP9 Stock 4.0.3 ICS update (for our region na)

Anyway.. as always, I don't advice anyone here to follow the steps I presented above if you don't know what your doing. As once you initiated the Factory reset on step 4, the factory reset is irreversible na. And of course I am in no way as a disclaimer responsible of whatever lost datas you had. Follow the steps to a tee and you should be able to update it by yourself.

Or you can bring your Phone like ive said before to Sm or Ayala, any Samsung Center and have them be the one to just update it to stock ICS.

Though in your case @lespaulibanez, If you bought your phone online, do you still the receipt of the phone? Samsung Business centers here would dutifully check ra ba jud sa imong receipt before they can do update your phone.

Mao ni ang naka importante basta naay receipt. Kay you are always guaranteed that Sammy would always back you up no matter what, with full manufacturer's warranty. Resibo lang ang katapat...

Thanks sa procedures. That will help me a lot.
Most likely basin Europe bound unta ni siya unya na-divert lang diri sa Pilipinas
That's the problem, i got no official receipt. I'll try to ask for one just i case.
