^ thinking about it, you're right... a depreciating quality of education isn't really a total failure afterall...

I'm not totally against this K-12 Program but has the authorities examined the entire curriculum first before implementing this? Students study Religion for 12 years. (Grades 1-6, 1st yr-4th yr hs, and for some, 1st-2nd yr college) They study Filipino for 12. These subjects are compulsory. Maybe the authorities can look at an option where these subjects are only compulsory until a certain level. And then insert more useful subjects into the curriculum and make it mandatory.

the curricula should be diverse amongst schools... more options promotes competition...competition promotes improvement...

I agree. Why didn't they look at that option first before implementing the K-12 Program? hmmmm.. Makes me wonder..

^it is deeply rooted in many governments to be the provider of education, therefore the planning and implementing is somehow their responsibility.... of course regardless if they have a bad record in handling it doesn't matter... the shame and ridicule of doing nothing for education of youth is unbearable and unheard of in recent times....

optional ra unta ni cya, mu-suffer ang mga shall we say 'astute and able' kids ani kay nisamut kahinay ang dagan sa education. pwerteng kalaay naman gani nang mga subjects sa college (eg one million filipino and english subjects nga pwede ra man to usa or duha ka buwan tanan instead of sprinkling them over 4-5 sems and a lot of other stuff that were irrelevant to what i wanted to become), samut pa nang sa high school. we need better quality education dili ang length of stay inside classrooms! and better trained as well as passionate teachers! again, we need better trained as well as passionate teachers! people who will spend time and extra effort jud eg troubleshoot why a lot of students will fail if raw scores will be the bases for passing grades instead of a lot of mumbo-jumbo computations to up the passing rate. di man tingali lisud ning mga subjects ba, di lang kaayu kamau motudlu ni sila, because consider the alternative....meaning daghan dumb and dumberer pinoys? naa lang unta reasonable prerequisite subjects then a veritable smorgasbord of mix and match courses with an option to overload subjects (i always wanted extra foreign language classes, hehehe) including skill-based ones to choose from. not algebra in HS then ditto in college, WTF!
