anyways you claim nga "The idea is Faith followed by good works" why label it as faith alone?

Mao man ang center sa theology of Faith Alone. The right word actually is 'justified'. "Faith justified by good works". Meaning imong Faith as a Christian makita kung imong kinabuhi, kinabuhi ba sa Kristyano.

Example: Europe was basically a "Christian empire" sa time ni Luther pero hardly makit-an nimo ang mga taw ug ilang leaders living a Christian way of life.

I think its not OT to talk about the origins of this idea. Sa New Testament they were already discussing the practicality of faith and good works.

you have a point there @machinecult. We have to understand the circumstances and events that happened during the time of Reformation. What Luther wanted to point out is the re emphasis of Faith as the main standard in christian living. During that time halos nahimo naman negosyo ug binuhatang physical ang kaluwasan sa tawo.

I was taught in sunday school and sabbath school that Faith alone is the basis for salvation. Once you have that, automatic na mu follow ang good works out of love. Faith and works cannot happen all at the same time. There has to have a seed first, and that is faith. As the Bible stated, "Faith without works is dead." meaning faith is nothing or did not happen if there was no good works or outside manifestation that followed..

In contrast ang Works sa tawo, whether good or bad, regardless of the motive, will always be works no matter if faith was present or wala. That is why man can boast.

unsay diay meaning ana imung good works bro para maklaru? i mean kanang gikan sa bibliya.

Like for example, if maghigda raka nya imu gi accept ang Ginoo, good works nah na?
or what if nag tinga naka nya imu gi accept ang Ginoo, good works ghapon na?

ako lan na gi ask para maklaru kay murag daghan diri lain lain ug pagsabot anang word nga Good Works. If maka establish ta ana then much easier to understand each views.

hello ket, mao ni ang usa sa mga pinaka importanteng butang nga na mis-interpret halos sa kasagaran nga nagclaim nga "Christians". Hope you can accept that dunay duha ka klase sa pagtuo.

From one of the commentaries on these verses..Ephesians 2:8,9

Where do we get the faith that is required for salvation? Ephesians 2:8 answers: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." We cannot work it up—that would be our effort (Isaiah 64:6). we have to understand between effort and grace.

Consider when God first started working with us. One year we were clueless, the next year things were making sense. We read the Bible and understood it, but more importantly, we believed it.

Where did that belief come from? It was, as Ephesians 2:8 says, a gift from God. The real miracle is not that we understood, but rather that we now believed those words we understood. And this happened only because God made it possible.

What was the evidence that we believed those words? We began living by them. Our new works and actions were the evidence of our faith: keeping the Sabbath, tithing, eating habits, etc.

The Lord Jesus already paid it all!!! he has done everything on the cross to justify our sins to the father. All we need to do is believe and live the life that glorifies god. A life reflecting always the light of Christ. We need to understand the working of the Holy Spirit. There you can see the difference between your good works (effort) and the righteousness (grace) as a result of the overflow of God's working sa atung kinabuhi.

Consider this, if we add good works to FAITH, lets say even just a single work in order for us to be saved then what if mapakyas ka ana sa makausa lang? the logic will become non-sense.

For the Christians, ang atong pagbuhat ug good works is for the promised reward. Not anymore a requirement for salvation.

Kinahanglan ato usa masabtan ang plano sa Ginoo sa kaluwasan diha sa finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. If we have that genuine faith then dunay makita ang tinuoray nga kausaban sa kinabuhi kay ang Holy Spirit sa Ginoo at the same time maglihok sad sa iyaha.

    Philippians 1:6
    (KJV)
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

pinaka importante jud ang atong daily relationship sa ginoo. dili lang kung makahinumdum lang ta sa iyaha.

agree ko sa imong statement bro (Look for the bold red letter) pero dili na maoy issue sa kaluwasan bro....ma saved sa by grace through faith then musunod nana ang good works nimo.....as what ephesians chapter 10 stated "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." kung imo ma bantay sa previous chapters which is chapters 8 and 9 imo makita diha nga grace thorugh faith ang naa diha wala pay good works. ang ako pangutana nimo is mao ni So useless ra di ay ang pag pakamatay ni Kristo didto sa cross kung mag buhat pata ug good works para lang maluwas? so Useless ra di ay ang pagsulti ni Kristo na "It is Finished"? mao lage nay gi ingon sa akong huna huna na usahay ang taw naay common sense sahy naay common pero walay sense sahay pod walay common pero naay sense....
