mas trending ron nowadays ang web jud kay internet age naman gud ta, pero wa man gihapon malaos ang software dev kay backbone man gud na sa web gud, kung way software, wala puy web...as much as walay software kung walay hardware...

ako lang ni klarohon bai ha... mobile development is a very general term... which composed a lot of specialization... basig imong pasabot mobile apps developer... which is most of the mobile apps developer uses java... ma tawag ra gihapon na sila og Application programmer....

Note that programming is just one phase of Software Development. Software development is not only limited to desktop application development but also includes the web/mobile space.

Software Development includes, researching, new development, prototyping, testing, maintaining, and any other activities that results a software product.

If you do Joomla, creating websites for companies and does not limit to just coding but also does other activities, then you are doing software development regardless if you are developing plugins or not.

Perhaps, the proper thread should be "Web Application programming, Mobile Apps programming or Desktop Apps Programming".

Development encompasses more stuff than just programming.

anywayz... those who wants to specialize the Website development ayaw gyud intawn mo pag salig og ready made online application like joomla, wordpress et.al. its worth knowing it... but not a marketable tool... and it is much better to make your own legacy.... again using these application mentioned above does not call you a website developer nor a programmer unless you re-engineered it that will call you a programmer... well every person has its own decision and wants... consider this as a word of advice... good day

joomla and wordress are very much trending right now. there are quite many people already who are making more money using these frameworks than from developers who are working in big software companies(in the philippines setting). joomla and wordpress developers are quite in demand these days. it's just, because of the population of these developers, rates are getting lower (i think).

@TheSurferD, just a note. I didn't copy it to wikipedia. The information is indeed from Wikipedia. Thnx for posting the links by the way.

hehehe. read carefully what "I copied my thoughts to wikipedia" thing that i I posted. I think you have this misconception that if you are developing websites using Joomla or other CMS, you are neither a developer nor a programmer. If you are using these CMS to write articles, manage your categories and whatnot, that definitely is not programming neither development, IMHO. But if you go through all the development process which I stated earlier, then that's software development my friend. You don't have to re-engineer stuff to be called a programmer.

i think they are using cms for rapid development and wala nka daghan problemahon..pero pareha sa imo gisulti mas nindot jud kong kabalo ka mo program og imoha kaysa magsalig ka sa cms...
