Leftist? there is a saying that says: "tell me your friends, and I tell who you are?" The filipino government has been fighting against communists/NPA's etc ... and there was always a delineating line between the government and the Left. But with this government, there is no more delineating line ... they are even at the seat of the government! Tagilid ang atong gobyerno or military .. one example: dunay mapatay nga leftist, NPA's etc .. the Human Rights commission is very noisy ... na ambush ang mga Soldiers by the NPA's .. gikasab-an noon ni pnoy nga dili kuno sila unta didto moadto ... haha .. unsay pasabot ani? Asa man ang human rights sa mga soldiers nga namatay?
Too many folks equate social responsibility with communism. Any talk of respecting human rights or breaking up monopolies and you are instantly branded a leftist by some over zealous peeps.
You can't blame them for telling the truth. Social justice, social responsibility have in many circumstances hijacked by far-left groups not just here in the Phils. It might sound red-baiting to many people but you can't deny the bias. Not just in our military but also the rest of our security forces. Our military even has developed its own Human Rights agency because they're left to fend for themselves.
China doesn't go on world conquering tours. They never bothered even with Taiwan....nor Vietnam or India to nation build them like themselves. I think you should worry about other countries than China. They play Economic and Currency war rather than military ones.
You really don't need a US base. It'll cause more issues.
It's easier to do business in China than it is the USA actually. China is becoming more conservative and liberal while the US switches gears to socialism. Philippines has always been a aristocracy theocracy.
GWB offered it to GMA to start back as a Commonwealth. GMA rejected. Remember Stateshood is different than commonwealth.
Also Stateshood mean you would keep your current form of government as that is the State of the Philippines (Part of the United States). Each state has their own laws, system, etc...but have to abide by USC and Federal Mandates as well as the US Constitution. Stateshood is very different than the Federal Government. Philippines is Nationalized. USA is not.
[QUOTE=Detective Mask;12490490]I know that. Our History teacher presented it in the past na out of all the countries with claims sa Spratlys Islands, ang Philippines ang weakest in terms of national defense. It's just that I don't really like the idea of us having to constantly ask the US for help in issues like this. As much as possible, we should really seek to solve this issue by ourselves. That's where diplomatic talks take place, like what the gov't is doing now.
Good perspective and correct.
lol the funny thing is ang nabasa nko sa uban random forums, Kaning mga taga US. debate2x pud intawn aning situation sa philippines - china territory dispute. ana ang uban ang mga filipino kno mura kno nag wave og sword sa pikas kamot which is US, padong sa china og ang usa ka kamot nag burn og sa ilang flag through protest. let me find the gif's. lol
