This thread has gone out of topic.
Of course it has gone off topic--as a science educator, I perceive this topic as a threat to our the nature of Philippines as a secular nation Secular state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia by posting ideas that deliberately mean to undermine the decisions made by our government in teaching evolution in our country's schools. And in light of this, I will actively derail this idea by posting the reasons why this thread (and other threads similar to it) threatens secularism.

Yeah right.
OT: kung misinformed ang Catholic then it follows nga misinformed sad ka kay gikan man na sa catholic compilation ang bible.....property na sa katoliko ang bible...
BTW, ang Catholic Church gi tagaan ug value ang science nga dili babag sa ato faith..kung gi view sa science nga billions ang age sa universe, unsa may problema ana sa ato faith nga within man na sa scientific domain. kung gi tuohan nimo nga thousands pa ang age base sa imo faith without considering material explanation aw problema na na nimo.. pero di nimo ma utro nga ang standards sa education should be neutral and secular kay kung dili gani, mahitabo nga mo dominate ang usa ka sekta o relihiyon sa atong educational system... I guess mao ni point ni boss rodsky dire. kabantay mo nga ang Catholic universities naay motto about faith/Charity and science...kay dili na sila talo mga pare... basin kamo ang misinformed ha? sige kung bata pa ang earth or universe, tagaig sayop ang science sa carbon dating....nga mostly moabot pa man gani ug tag 70, 000 years or more ang fossils..

The specific issue here is something called "YOUNG EARTH CREATIONISM" (i.e. the belief that the Earth and life on earth is only about 6,000 years old, and that evolution is "evil" and "wrong") and the Catholic church denies the fact that they support these claims.
I have other issues against religions and the church, but if they DO NOT support Young Earth Creationists, then I consider them on my side.
So again, to stick on topic...
The universe is appoximately 13.7 billion years old, give or take a billion years.

The Philippines might classify itself secular but Roman Catholic political influence is pretty dominant like it or not. Some of their stances I agree, some I don't. Before I left RC I was schooled in a Catholic educational system for 12 years; we were taught both Creation and Evolution but the decision is up to us which one we see fit or even combine both - it wasn't forced or anything. Evolution didn't come to us as a theory that disproves God at all, as some people see today. As a Christian, I see YEC as an enjoyable reading material and take it with an open-mind. Many well-respected Christian thinkers like in my previous post do not even believe in YEC or see it as vital to Christian apologetics.
wa gyuy connection ang discovery sa technology and other advance research sa imong darwinian evolution! those who discovered those things are they all atheists?
The discoveries of science will help prove that religion and science stand side-by-side and complements each other.
I don't even understand why you're including atheism in this discussion, when my points are discussing about secularism. Clearly, you do not understand the meaning of both words and can't distinguish one from the other.
And yes, science, technology and advanced research was responsible for the discovery of the principle of evolution.

good. i thought youre an atheist.
Hala, oh no. Di nalng lagi ta makig lalis sa mga atheist.. Back to the topic nata mga bro.
As the Thread Starter, what I would like to point out is that kani nga thread is purely religious.
We ca not give 100% proof about anything here. Just like the evolutionary theory, we weren't there to witness those events.
All I wanted to say, not dictating anyone here is that base on my Biblical faith:
That the Earth and the Universe is just 6000+ years old. Di ko sure if gi dali-an ra mo ana.. for me 6000 years is already old enough base on my research on "Creation." I don't want to undermine anybody here. Just saying what the Bible says.
That Adam and Eve were made already mature like the Universe also is. It's like that poofff.. Power sa Gino-o.
But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female. - Mark 10:6
The Holy Scripture is enough proof "For me" here.
Padayunin ta ni..
