The Undershaw Preservation Trust
Your help is needed!
The Undershaw Preservation Trust is vigourously working toward saving Undershaw from development and preserving it as Conan Doyle's home for future generations of Doyleans, Holmesians/Sherlockians, and literary fans of all kinds.
Once the home is saved from development there will be plans for its future use, but our focus right now must be to preserve it. Undershaw is under serious threat and there is no time to waste. There is a Judicial Review on 23rd May 2012 which may determine what our next steps will be.
...
Saving Undershaw would honour the work and memory of this literary giant, whose creation of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson has brought much pleasure to so many for over 100 years.
There are hundreds of Sherlock Holmes societies all around the world, and there are even more fans of the Great Detective who have both enjoyed the original stories as well as other fiction and nonfiction works based on Holmes and Watson. There are the BBC "Sherlock" series as well as the "Sherlock Holmes" films starring Robert Downey, Jnr. and Jude Law.
Won't you join us and help to save Undershaw for future generations of Sherlock Holmes fans?

Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes, screenwriter/co-producer - BBC Sherlock) - Patron of UndershawYour immediate assistance is needed to show the world that saving Undershaw, where The Hound of the Baskervilles and all of The Return of Sherlock Holmes were written, is of great importance to Sherlockians everywhere.
We are gathering signatures from Sherlockians all over the world to show that the preservation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's house as he designed it is of great concern to us--now, and for the generations which will follow us. It is imperative that we show our support before it is too late. There are plans to change the house through development, dividing it into three separate townhomes. This will destroy Conan Doyle's original design and the integrity of Undershaw forever.

Please support Save Undershaw Movement!Sir Arthur Conan Doyle occupied several residences in his prolific and thrilling career, only Undershaw bears the stamp of his massive personality. Here the Hound of the Baskervilles first breathed spectral life and Sherlock Holmes himself was resurrected from the Reichenbach Falls.
...Undershaw was the centre of Doyle’s life during perhaps the most fruitful and fascinating phase of his career. It must be saved and take its place among the sensitively preserved residences of this country’s other literary giants. This is certainly a three-pipe problem but not, I am convinced, an insoluble one. - Mark Gatiss
