For me it was a mistake that we let go of the US bases..

Now, I may not fully support this one for two reasons:
1. It should be us who should defend our homeland, by this we should strengthen our own defense. Buy new weapons and equipment, bring back the ROTC, develop our own defense system, and etc...

2. The US is still powerful but maybe it is time for us to love our country and believe on ourselves.

The bases also opened more jobs for us Filipinos.

2. The US is still powerful but maybe it is time for us to love our country and believe on ourselves.

There's no question about loyalty. Taiwan is a rich country, so is South Korea, but the US is still there with them. The good thing about these countries is that they have accepted this relationship they have with the Americans and rose above nationalistic pride for the good of their nations. Meanwhile in the Philippines, were still living up to this fantasy of Filipino sentimentality being fed to us and yet cannot do anything on ourselves when were being robbed by our sovereignty foreign and domestic.

i agree with you bro, however we cannot afford to buy those fighter jets. not now. even if we buy them, training our men would mean another cost to the country. let us prioritize education and our economy. bring back the base for our protection and once we have every pinoy educated, let us slowly stand on our own by boosting our economy with new innovative solutions in all sector that will help us propel our nation to become one of asia's first world countries. US will never own us forever and they know that.
