The Philippine Basketball Association returns to Lapu-Lapu City on June 2 with the crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra Kings playing the Meralco Bolts at the Hoops Dome.
It will be the second time this year and third in two years that a bearing PBA game will be held at the newly built 7,200-seater venue.
The Lapu-Lapu joust is one of just five provincial games for the upcoming Governor’s Cup, which will start on May 20.
The Commissioner’s Cup is still in its championship round with the defending champions Talk ’N Tropang Texters locked up in a two-all standoff after four games in the best-of-seven series.
Lapu-Lapu City hosted a PBA game for the first time last Nov. 5, 2011 that pitted the Alaska Aces and the Petron Blaze Boosters. It didn’t take long for the city to host another PBA game when the Tropang Texters played the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last March 24.
Imports not taller than 6-foot-5 will spice up the season-ending tournament. Initial reports has it that Ginebra will bring in Purnell Perry as its reinforcement.
Tickets for the upcoming out-of-town game will be available starting May 4 at RC Goldline outlets in SM City-Cebu, Gaisano Country Mall, E-Mall, The Old Spaghetti House and at the Hoops Dome.
Ticket prices are pegged at P1,000 (courtside, reserved seats), P800 (lower box, reserved seats but on a per section basis), P500 (upper box, reserved seats but on a per section basis) and P150 (general admission, free seating).
The upcoming game, promoted by Enya Ideals, is sponsored by International Pharmaceuticals Inc., Alcordo Advertising, Radical Ads, Mactan Isla Resort and Spa, Days Hotel-Mandaue, Nature’s Spring, Euro Technik and The Old Spaghetti House
