he is already a hero to those who benefited from him. but they are just a few. he just enriched himself and the people around him. he is just enjoying his own fortune... gambling, womanizing, etc...
just a small fraction of filipinos have benefited from his popularity. IMO, he is far from being a national hero. I'm proud of him being a boxer. And that is all there is to it.
