PROBLEM: after cleaning GPU. PC won't BOOT. keeps RESTARTNG.

You damaged the card man, You have a static energy na wa mo ka discharge before cleaning it. Sensitive bya ang boards sa PC and GPU's. Tech na jud maghandle ana... 2nd level engineer. Use your warranty. But I was thinking about a solution like i-Oven xa... Oven by process not Oven toaster. Maybe magkamiracle (45%).

i searched some posts in other forums. some have used 70% alcohol. pero yes, recommended jud ang 99%.

It was short!? if not the liquid still shorting two contacts. Took out the motherboard, remove CPU, RAM, Cards, CMOS battery, flush it with dish washing detergents, and dry it up, (not under the sun), perhaps vacuum or fan, hair blower, whatever you can think of, or just wait untill dry. Seriously, it make my old dusty motherboard became a new one.

sa motherboard ni. pero same ra guro sa video card. siguro some 30%water is still shorting some stuffs. i'm placing the video card in front of the electric fan now..

basin wa ganahi ang gpu sa scent sa alcohol. or basin allergic. hypo allergenic na alcohol ang imu gamit. hehe. bitaw naka sugat ko ani sa ako kauban sauna na di mu on ang computer ig taod sa vc, nag ilis ra siya sa iya cooler sa vc ni okey na. pareho jud ug sakit sa imo. sa ako tan.aw kuwang ra ang contact between sa gpu ug sa cooler. palihug daw kog testing ug dugang thermal paste or ilis daw ug thermal paste na medyo nindot. basin luag sad ang lock sa cooler spring. try lang boss.

Thermal grease is ONLY meant to fill the tiny scratches in the surfaces of the heatsink and CPU heat spreader. As noted a pea size or smaller drop is plenty of TIM

i think this also applies to the GPU? nagbutang ra kog pea size sa middle. try nya nako ug spread evenly kai too much isn't good man daw.

bro thanks for reminding me about proper contact between the gpu and heatsink. coz nafocus ako attention sa alcohol gud.

-I tested the videocard a while ago after exposing it to to electric fan-the same problem.
-I checked if there's really enough contact between the gpu chip and heatsink. I observed that the pea-sized(w/c is actually too much coz the GPU chip is smaller compared to proc. chip) haven't been spread over. The contact is just localized at the middle portion(where i applied the thermal paste). I then removed the paste, reapplied a new one, and then spread it with a credit card as thin as possible. Gilili nako ug balik EUREKA! there was around ~.8mm gap between the heatsink and chip.

It's all because of this:


That brown knot isn't supposed to be there. It should've been at the back of the board holding the screw w/ spring. I misplaced it.

Maayo kay wala nako nadayon ug luto sa oven. Gi pre-heat na baya unta to daan ready for some cooking. LOL.
