quick question.. do you receive a physical copy if you pre-order a copy? or is it downloadable only?

I've played a lot of MMORPGs that are FTPs, and GW2 would be my first pay to play MMORPG, so I can say I'm a newb in this area.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

The Standard and Digital Deluxe are only available for Download. I am still not sure if the Collector's Edition gives you the physical copy.
