Default What is your preferred router and Why?

People often ask, "Unsa mas nindot na router?" Now is the time to talk about this.
I made this thread so that people can gather enough information before they decide which router to get.

Ako, I have a Cisco Linksys WAP610N but unfortunately after 1.3 years of service nadaot ni xa cause in my place taas kaau ang temperature, normal is 32°C. Nindot xa but di kahandle sa in-ani nga place. You will always notice na init xa( actually obvious na mag-init jud kay ang akong place is on the 3rd floor) so kung in-ani imong place you will need a nice ventilation ,. That's why I switch to TPLink, not so popular but cheap and so far wala ko kaincounter certain issues na makaaffect sa akong internet life, kaperform sad xa pareho sa features sa cisco but I found out na gamay ra jud ang online support, murag sa ilang official site lang,.

I was planning to start a thread for this type of router para makatabang sd sa uban.

Kaw unsa man imong router dha?

i only have experience with lisksys and TP-link

on lisksys ok ra siya. no problems, only issue for me is that its expensive.. naay AC sa room where i installed the router..

on tp-link, ive been using it dire sa cebu with no problems.. Its cheaper and very reliable. naa ko 1 router from them na 3 years na karon and no issues. I also have a 3g router from them which i really like coz its cheaper and updated ilang firmware so any new model of 3g modem most likely magamit.

im planning to get another device na TP link. So far wla jd ko issues regarding this brand.

@Totz: yes mao na ang gamit ra router. I also tried using wimax connection before and shared it using a TP-link router.

After trying several routers , im happy with the Dlink dir 655.

    It's fast and reliable.

    Also tried the ff brands

    1. Linksys / cisco - their new antenna-less routers are quirky , have limited range , prone to overheating
    2. Tplink - better than linksys pero cant handle huge workload/multiple connection. Have 4 units and 2 have already failed me (overheating issues ang usa while the other one when used as access point sends out a weird signal that compromises the main router and prevents me from pinging it)
    3. Netgear - used the pre-n version, ok siya pero had some compatibility issues with it and some wifi receivers, my brother used netgear also pero both of our units naguba in mga 2-3 years probably due to overheating
    4. Edimax - used for a few months, ok ra sya til nag overheat.
    5. Cdrking branded routers - dili reliable, naguba rasad after a while
    6. Encore brand routers - surprisingly good quality, working pa akong 3 ka encore till now.

    Moral of the story,

    1. Situate router in a well ventilated area. Dili pwede in a room nga walay air circulation or else it will overheat bisag unsa pa nga brand
    2. Butangi ug avr if not ups ang router para mas stable siya and protected against power fluctuations
    3. Avoid cdrking branded routers because they wont last that long
    4. Im disappointed at the new linksys/cisco routers nga walay antenna. Naka rma na akong cisco karon.
    5. I think tplink, encore is surprisingly good pero for home use lang with few connections. I just use these routers as an access point. Theyre pretty reliable... Encore seems to be more reliable than the tplink though.
    6. Get a high end router (faster processor) if u need multiple connections or if you are a heavy user.

Naka gamit sad ko aning encore nga 3g routers... Used one as an access point, the other one as a repeater. This allowed me to have internet available sa akong house 2floors 3 bedrooms and concrete ang walls.

The repeater function is really usefull. ive since updated the acess point to another brand but the repeater still works as long as same ilang wifi channel. I also made their Ssid's thesame para automatic ra mu reconnect ang wireless device (ipad and laptop) when i transfer from one spot to another.

try ra nako ning encore.. curious ko..

TPlink is weird. after 6 months, once full load ang isa ka pc, murag maputol ang connection sa other pc. also weird issue,.. I can't access the GUI sa router on my pc. i just get the wrong password error bisag wla pa gni ko nag enter ug logins. na restart na nako, na reset and everything else. dili jud. pero working cya with newly connected PCs.. weird. (Since gi RMA akong Dlink, back on the TP-link ko.)

Akong Dlink DIR-600 gi rma nako after 5 months of use. wla na gi gana ang WAN port. cge lng limited connectivity bisag pila ka reset and manual off/on. I used the Dlink to replace my TP-link. The TP link was working fine, except that mo disconnect cya sa other pc if my PC is using up a lot of bandwidth. Ingon sa akong friend, gka choke daw ang router ( i forgot the technical terms he used). Until now, two months na hapit.. still waiting for GI to get my unit back.
