    Default Pa-advice ani nga APC UPS.

    APC BACK-UPS ES 500VA 230V PHILIPPINES

    300watts ni, naay butang 180 joules surge protection

    question:
    1. Igo ba ni sa akong system? under minimal load or medium load?
    my system is:
    core i3 2120
    p8z68 m pro
    PC HD6870 pcs+
    seasonic x560w
    1x dvd-rw
    2x HDD
    LG 22inch LCD
    plus regular k/b mouse

    2. kanang 180joules mao na iya surge protection? dala naba ang voltage regulation ani o kinanglan gihapon kog AVR?

    3. is it really worth it? 2.5k? or mag AVR nalang ko, dile jud nuon cge ang brown out sa amo?

    Thanks daan.

    Not sure, but 22 inch LCD won't give you time to save in a 500VA backups.

    Actually, ang main purpose sa UPS is to provide enough power so ma save ang files and properly shutdown nimo ang pc preventing file corruption.

    Your system should have power consumption of about 150-200watts when idle and around 250-300 watts at full load.

    If ngita ka ug cheaper brand, try the Ideal brand nga UPS... its available sa MDR in North Recla near SM... (i don't work for them btw)

    It's from taiwan nga UPS... so far ok man akong 5 units nga gipalit. 650VA ni sila. (arang arang ni siya nga UPS compared anang mga Giant, PC Star etc nga less than 1 year guba na ang battery)
    mga 1,500-1650 pesos ang akong palit ani.

    I was thinking of using UPS pod instead of AVR but i think if dili ra gyud nimo need ang UPS ok ra man gyud ang AVR. if duda ka sa power sa imong UPS/AVR then go for higher Wattage, budgete lang gyud kay investment pod bya na.

    Thanks sa mga replies, i also googled nga wala jud voltage regulation ni nga product, mao pd ako contra magabie, so maypa magAVR nalang ko with higher wattage? kay murag mao poy problem sa ako AVR ron cge ug hagong kung mutaas ako power requirement.

    I'd like to share something.

    I use a 1000VA Nippo Servo Type AVR (bad brand), and when my landlord starts welding just about any metal in the compound, the Servo AVR starts making sound but the output voltage meter won't move (I think it's at 220V).

    I knew Panther is uhm.. ya know. What got me in buying is their free lifetime warranty in Ace Hardware. Got the 500VA Relay Type , but whenever the electricity fluctuates, it makes a ticking sound and the output voltage meter moves back a little (I'm guessing it went from 220V to 210V, this is backed up in their Manual.

    Pather's AVR's Manual (a graph):
    Input: 200V -> Output: 220V ----> good
    Input: 210V -> Output: 210V ----> Bad
    Input: 220V -> Output: 220V ----> Good
    Input: 230V -> Output: 210V ----> Bad
    Input: 240V -> Output: 220V ----> Good

    If look at it, whenever the Voltage changes to + 10V or - 10V of the normal 220V, the AVR changes the output to 210V. And often goes back and forth 6 to 8 times in 10 seconds, which I think could be damaging to the computer. I'm not sure what is the printed "With Line Filter Inside" for, it certainly means not that. And this gets hot like an electric iron. I wrote Panther about it, it replies "the heat is manageable". I asked how much electricity the AVR eats (since it's like an iron) even if no devices are connected, the reply is "Minimal".... sigh.

    And the reason I said Nippo Servo Type is bad brand is their Power on Delay stopped functioning after a year, outside the warranty. CBX price for repairing it is 450 pesos. The manual only says how to use it, but doesn't say how it function. No website or any support from the manufacturer. Unknown brand. Bought it in Thinking Tools which also has zero support.

    My take: Get a Servo rather than the Relay type, just not Nippo. Maybe Samwon or Sieg. 1000VA to 1500VA should be enough.
