OT: asa diay ka nasamad rics? ayg kabalaka layo ra nas tinai. lols.
OnT:
very good question ric! kutaw sa utok ba. ahaha. it made me think and here's my theory... .
pinoy language and consciousness is more dynamic, concrete and picturesque if compared with western thought. and most of our key concepts are connected or intertwined with the parts of the human body. for instance, a person who is without shame is bagag nawong. in western thought, the concept of brotherhood/sisterhood is somewhat abstract. but in our language, the word igsoon connotes a concrete relational meaning. in other words, brothers and sisters came from the same intestine. therefore, it follows that they have a very strong linkage, or connection, or relationship. our being a relative with one another is defined or determined by the fact that we have only one "tinai". it appears that the most central and vital part of the body, as far as us filipino is concerned, is the intestine. it is not the heart. sumpais tinai gud.
this is the reason why when one is wounded or cut, we would say: "layo ras tinai".. There is really a strong relationship and camaraderie among us because we share the same intestine. kung maigo ang tinai.. mura siyag patyanan ba. delikado. pastilan pagkataasa rics.
