Rep. Pacquiao reports success with cattle livelihood program

Philippines - On Saturday, Filipino congressman and world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao conveyed the successful implementation of his P8 million cattle livelihood program in Sarangani Province. The initiative was led by Mayor Victor James B. Yap, Sr. and used funds from the boxer's Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), according to a statement by Pacquiao's congressional office.

“. . . my good friend and staunch political ally, brother Tata Yap, have proved themselves up to the task and worthy of my support,” said Pacquiao who is currently training in Baguio for a June 9 welterweight title fight against Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas.

The livestock program began in 2010 and provided 188 cattle to local beneficiaries to help promote sustainable livelihood in communities within and near Sarangani Province. Some of the livestock are bred and dispersed to farmers and other beneficiaries, according to the press release.

As part of his livelihood programs, Mr. Pacquiao has also purchased several outrigger boats which are turned over to over a hundred fishermen in coastal barangays in southern Mindanao.
