Here is my take,
1. The cross twigs in front distract me more on first image .
2. The over highlights (camera right) portions is a bit to much.
3. For me a yellow/green cast does not suit the image. Why not try a cooler tone?
For the second image:
1. The straw in-front of the face really distract me a lot.
2. The highlight on the forehead is a bit strong
3. I would suggest burning portions on the legs bit so that you have a gradual tone and its not competing attention on the face.
I saw the concept in your flickr page. The only thing I would suggest is create a color theme target on the different concepts you have to give it a more elemental feel.
