Whether or not the people behind the video made money from it is neither here nor there. Pray tell, how is what they did any different from Lourd de Veyra’s tongue in cheeck mockumentaries? He probably made money off of them too.

And tourism? Any incoming tourist to the Philippines already knows what it's like here--we are after all a developing nation. So the video takes absolutely nothing from tourism efforts in this country, not unless you're implying that tourists expect the images and videos on ads by the DOT to depict the ENTIRE state of the country. No, tourists aren't naive.

O rly? As far as I know, the "the blacks, hispanics, latinos" don't react as negatively as Filipinos do when the media or entertainment industry portrays them in a negative light. When's the last time you hear Hispanics throw a hissy fit when their immigrant status is made fun of? When's the last time Korean immigrants cried foul when they're portrayed in film as laundromat owners? And the people from industrialized Asian countries are too busy too care what one American thinks. They're too busy working in a PROSPEROUS COUNTRY. Even people Thailand, another developing country, didn't really care about the unflattering scenes depicted in the Hangover 2, which was shot in the country.

But Filipinos, ah we threw a fit just because of a Desperate Housewives episode. We cry foul just because one American happens to highlight the negative aspects of this country.

Three days ago (Mar. 15, 2012). Read below.

Members of the University of Southern Mississippi band chanted racist taunts at a hispanic Kansas State player during the schools' NCAA tournament game on Thursday.

After point guard Angel Rodriguez was fouled late in the first half of the second-round game, a few band members showered the freshman with cries of "where's your green card?"

Few of the comments after the said event:
So maybe you can tell me -- who's more un-American? Angel Rodriguez, or the assholes who wanted to see his green card?

Chants like, "Where's your green card?" are based on total ignorance....But that is not enough. Her students should face disciplinary action for such racist comments as the college president Martha Saunders has promised.

Thank you for taking the time to provide links. I will ignore the fact that you still haven't replied to my previous points. You have a habit of doing that, yes?

Your examples are not what I am referring to. These are racists comments, done by people in front of people. I was clearly referring to media, film and television portraying stereotypes. We are of course, talking about a YouTube video right? And by the way, racist remarks are totally different from quips based on facts. Sometimes, a little logical comprehension and less, "wearing your emotions on your sleeve" helps. But I digress, lest I derail the topic.

The people behind the video has succeeded in their purpose of the production . That is evident because people talked either about the person or the video .

What he said about Cebu and referring to the Philippines is a mere for " fun" out of ignorance and bias . Why ?

    - If I dont see other videos containing the same essence of the talked about video why you disliked it in the coming days or weeks then it is an obvious just for fun video's out of boredom . I have been to all countries found in the middle east , south east asia and the pacific , north and south America and I can easily make a list that contains 21 kabuok why I dont like that specific country .

    - A true and real critic has all the freedom of speech specially if its not libelous but the moment you involve uneccessary cuss words , you can clearly and justifiable conclude that the person behind the video deserves no respect even from his or her fellow countrymen . Isnt it obvious ?

    - Although what he said was true , we cant deny the facts because these are real and we all know it . Mao na gitawag ug SAD TRUTH and he was successful in his intent to be talked about because of the scenario's going on . Instead na mag lalis mo diri due to opinionated outlooks , you guys should take it like a real man . Absorb it constructively .

Ahh yes, who says they are different? In its essence, WOTL only showed the negative side of Manila.. Jimbo showed Cebu's.. then both say hey its not nice here in the Philippines..
If I may point out, De veyra is a Filipino citizen, he has certain rights and privileges Jimbo cant have.. do you agree? he's just here on permits in case we forget..

Right.. take it up to the advertising department.. but just to set your expectations.. things dont work that way.. Heck even in election campaigns you have to strike at the right moment of mud slinging for it to work.. Remember Villar? Spending millions and millions in advertising, he was very popular months before the elections, ranking in the higher ups.. yet with just one ugly advertising just weeks before the election, he got pawned. Remember KONY2012? they even got the support of the worlds most powerful man.. now what happened?

hmm.. interesting.. take a good look at the different reactions here in istorya.. we have this debate for that same reason.. case in point, we all have this different reactions. We are people, just like everybody else.. I see you have the same take in the video, just because you have seen the ugly side of cebu and manila, you then agree its not that nice here.. You see that I didnt laugh off from the mockumentary and posted my reactions here, you concluded then that every filipino is like that.. Do you not matter?

Again, everybody didnt cry foul.. It was just the same as this.. debates and arguments, different point of views.. For the most part, those who didnt are really incompetent, so that was the wise thing for them to do.. While others just enthymematically understood with the incongruity, making anti-claims under laughter..
