I think naa ray API ang DigitalPersona for Java, PHP and C#.
Can a person time in or out only on one branch or all branches.
Kay if a person can time in or out anywhere.
That means kahinanglan registered ka for each reader.
Otherwise kung specific to one branch ra, wala ray problema.
Kung mag google lang mo, daghan au sample codes for different languages (Dili sad tanan tingali)
But Digitalpersona is quite a popular tool.

A Web Payroll System? not recommended.

Why?. The Data is too confidential. Pero ok ra ang mga reports regarding with the DTR, but payroll? nah.

About the biometrics.. I did make 1 using vb6, the name of the device is SecuGen Hamster.

Actually, it can be done with PHP. I have a software made out of PHP, an online time-management system with biometric integrated with an online payroll.

I would suggest using JAVA Struts framework if you want robust and secured web apps.

Regarding the data confidentiality, I think there are a lot of ways to secure the data. There is Web Banking nowadays which is still secured. Besides, local installed applications has it's own short comings. Take for example simultaneous usage from different users. If you would have a client-server setup to solve this you are already exposing your application to some of security risk of the web. Remember that the WWW is just another client-server setup.

Yes, there's a lot of ways to secure your data. Well it takes time to do that. If your having fun with researching and hustling your self on coding with security well do that.

But best practice is to use the payroll system with in the vicinity of company don't let your data go out of the company if possible.

It really depends on the programmer on how will he/she will develop the system ( if you PHP because you good at that then go ) and also on how the programmer deploy the system. If they think they can secure the database even though the database is On-line (Web Base) then go.

If there's a easiest way, go to that way.. Don't complicate your self.
