Potassium permanganate dip at 100mg/2.5 gallons of water, or
Salt dip
Formalin dip at 2 to 4 ml Formalin/2.5 gallons of water for 30 minutes, the fish may lose equilibrium and must immediately be transferred to clean, fresh water
Modern antiparasitics (such as Disco-worm, Fluke tabs, and Clout) may help
Salt in the aquarium at 1 to 2 tablespoons may help prevent secondary infections
The best treatment is to remove them by hand and quarantine the tank. You may have to do the following a few times. Tweezers work well for removing the anchor worms, try to grip them as close to the wound as possible. Pperiodically dunk the fish into the bucket of water to let him get a few breaths before continuing. After removing as many as you can see, use stress coat and pray.
just take the anchor worm using by tweezers and quarantine your tank.
clean it with soap and hot water para sure...
that is right. i tried this with my bettas last year. just physically remove the worm using tweezers. try to make sure you grip it properly para ma remove ug tarong and dili ma putol. quarantine the fish and observe for a few weeks kay sometimes mu grow back na siya especially if dili ma remove ug tarong. if 1 fish in a community tank has it, you have to observe all fishes in the tank as chances are the others may have it too.
daghan jud kaayo naay anchorworm sa akong isda tabang wla medicine para ana kay naka suway ko og ibot last 3 days namatay akong isda. wlay medicine para sa i put sa tubig para mawla cya
pwed asin e rob sa isda
i only tried this once pud but a lot of my bettas had it. 1 community tank plus a couple of my males too. gi tagsa2x ra jud nako ug ibot tanan worms. i even thought mamatay na sila sa ka dugay nako ug ibot2x. haha. pero buyag lang na buhi ra sila tanan. just watch them closely after removing the worms. every night jud ku ga pangita ug worms para ma ibot dayon kung naa. after about a week or so, i didn't find a single worm na and all my bettas were back to normal
pulling anchor worms is similar to pulling a weed, you must pull the weed with its roots so it wont grow again...just the same with the anchor worm...just put your fish in a bucket of water while pulling out the worms to lessen the stress...
this was my own experiment bro...
before i had a lot of red cap...nagka anchor worms pod...what i did was, afetr pulling the worms i rubbed a little bit of salt then i placed some metheline blue...so far after that ok naman...though salt absorbs moisture so ayaw lng daghana...
naka suway kog ibot gahapon dapit sa gills unya karon deads na ni dugo ang gills sa isda...
found some pictures i took when some of my bettas had anchor worms...
i don't know if there is a better way to cure the fish from this but all i did was physically remove the worm, making sure that upto the 'roots' is removed. see the second pic where even a little part of the fish's flesh was removed. the area where the worm was is also reddish (see first pic). after removing the worm, i put the fish in treated water (methylene blue) for a few days, and as i said should be under observation for other worms. if you don't see another worm after a week then your fish should be ok.
f dli matanggal ang hook sa anchorworm ok rana
