do you study wavelength or any graphical representations sa inyo data gathered using you program? this is quite difficult for me especially on the prototype part..

Prototyping includes curve fitting, least means square kasagaran, when I was with the group, the only thing I managed to code was this -> Least Squares Fitting -- from Wolfram MathWorld from historical data. The simplest form would be to get the running average of the last few samples to predict the next direction so It involves a lot of statistical work also.

you can teach a physics major programming and be better at it, compare to teaching physics to programmer.

those guys that are good in math spec trigo and physics are the one that builds the fundamentals of those libraries, tools or software a "programmer" is using.
like:

Photoshop and image processing tools
Flash
Game engines and Games!
Anything related to sounds and voice
network and internet basic layers and architecture..

now how do you defind the "Best" or "Good" programmer? Are those programmer the one that writes codes by just re-using the one written by other people or those that knows how the actual technology works on the inside therefore can write more faster and organized, flexible and powerful code?
example:
Who is the best among the two programmers?
Programmer1: who can load and display JPEG image using a 3rd party API or
Programmer2: who can write a decoder and renderer for a JPEG image on his own?

Now who is the best programmer from the two?

Programmer3: The guy that writes the hardware drivers that renders the actual image.
Programmer4: The guy that writes the kernel that the driver runs on.
Programmer5: The guy that writes the BIOS firmware for the hardware that the kernel runs on.

(for the sake of discussion, we need to stop at this point bisan daghan pa up to ProgrammerN hehe)

Now, can can BIOS Programmer5 write an e-Commerce web app that rakes in millions of pesos per month? I don't think so.

A PHP programmer may look like a n00b when compared to a firmware programmer, but in reality lahi ra jud ilang skillsets. n00b sad ang firmware or game programmer nga di kabalo ug basic HTML hehehe...

My point is: lisod mag compare ug programmers. It's like comparing apples and oranges (or comparing strings and integers) hehehe...

This guy is called a QA. Seriously. Hehehe... A cracker (or hacker in popular culture) is just a QA with mad skillz. Kamong mga programmers ayaw sad ninyo i-look down ang mga QA as n00bs.

Real world scenario that happened a few times:

Programmer4: A guy that wrote a very complicated memory management module.
QA or Programmer6: A guy that discovered a root exploit due to a one-off mistake (nasobraan/nakulangan ug loop sa pointers).
