Am not so sure how the party lights would be a factor but they're just all over the place colors from Green, Orange and Blue and they're hitting in random places that made me think oh wow this is difficult. With the SB-800 I set it to iTTL-BL Zoom at 35mm ISO 800 Flash output +3 Lightsphere II with amberdome and very high dark ceiling. Lightings? Disco lights or party lights green, yellow and blue (A mixture of light) and very dark room. I wanted to get a decent shot of the subject and background. What did I miss, help me if you can boss as this is situation is kinda hard for me.

P.S Do you have a party a shot or something from a disco where I can see and your settings?

+3?? WOW! that has got to be the 1st for me...fellow photographers...who here shoots ittl +3 (i dont have sb800 coz im only a canon user) in party sceen indoor @ 35mm single person portrait?
...hmmm, no wonder the 1st picture turned out the way it did...

what did you miss? you didnt specify your wb settings...
but again the "party lights" of mix colors doesnt affect the white balance on that shot if you set ur camera correctly...its the makeup or the flash! k?!

Basketball #3 in Reverse

This morning I got an email from a french basketball magazine called Reverse, informing me that the image i submitted to them a couple of weeks ago for an article called "Forgotten Hoops" will definitely be published. What surprised me was that it was the cover image for the article.

Reading my name on magazines still gives me goosebumps.

by the way, just in case your curious, the inset text says:

@markyap, am using the Lightsphere II with the Amberdome. There's also this very distracting lightings from the party that made it very difficult for me to adjust WB.

You have an active Flash unit on your hotshoe, setting WB is useless.
1st pic, E-TTL with +3 EC, obviously without looking at the picture it is going to be overexposed. Especially at 35mm.
2nd pic is underexposed.

i would agree with Mark, both pics, aside from those exposure problems, needs better cropping / composition. These pictures are what we call... BULL's EYE... try to search around google about it.

tols: i've taken a lot of pictures of that place. even before those distracting structures were built. it's quite unfortunate what they've done to that area.
