@claive21: There's probably a reason why miabot ug 2 years imo pagpanghita ug work abroad. If I were in your shoes, I will try to re-evaluate my qualifications. In your thread wla man sad ka mag state sa imo mga achievements, work experiences, trainings (with certifications) or anything that would be enticing to the agency/employer's preferences toward applicants. Hehe, I have not tried working abroad pero I'm planning to do it this year (hopefully). And I prepared a lot. I know you also did prepare so kindly share your preparations sad..here are my action plans.

    1. Process general requirements (Passport, NSO, NBI(authenticated) pero not sure if sufficient na ni siya. If naa pa lain girequire, please share. Pang landbased job man ni ako...basin barko imo ganahan..nah, di ko kasuggest maski unsa.

    2. Be a skilled worker by undergoing a training (vocational/skills). If you ask me, I think I just made a wise decision. Go to J.Palma Professional Inc. (dapit ra sa Tejero Barangay hall, sorry I'm poor at giving directions, dili ko taga Cebu). They conduct free week-long training. They are TESDA accredited and the trainors are very well-experienced (previous supervisors/trainers from 5-star hotels in Cebu). The training was designed to be 'free' kay after the training, they will endorse you to their partner agencies (Espandia, CSV, etc ...usually Cebu based, or naay branch sa Cebu for convenience in processing). I started my training just this Feb 13 and will soon end on Feb 20. Training will cover Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Services, and Culinary Arts. They will not go into details but they will teach you the substantial skills required in performing tasks. You realize that all learning in school will NOT be applied in the actual job, do you? This is what they boast of. They make you capable by only teaching you what you need to know to become effective in your future job, which I find very efficient and time-conscious, not to mention 'free'. Pero, the only disadvantage is that they will not issue you the certification kay this document will be forwarded automatically to your agency then to the employer. This is how it works. You complete the training > Jpalma will endorse you to their partner agencies > interview > once qualified, wait for the employer interview > once dawat na, the Agency/Employer will pay your training fee to Jpalma. In that arrangement, it implies na ang JPalma gyud ang mangusog na makakita ta (trainees) ug agency/employers na mohire nato aron maka kwarta sad sila through training fees.

In my case, I have to pay 5k (training fee) para makuha ang certification kay I need it in applying for another agency nga wala sila tie-up

J.Palma will have a training twice a month.

    3. Agencies nowadays will put you on the priority list if naa ka mga training certifications (especially mga NC II from TESDA). So once naa naka ani mga trainings, the real challenge awaits... interviews interviews and lots of them. Daghan kaayo agencies na makatabang but be sure their POEA License is still valid. I usually go to PESO @ Capitol to check out interview schedules... I do now have 2 pending interviews.

Mao ra ni ako ika amot. Ikaw, I think mas daghan ka tips mahatag nako...post lang ngari and TIA
