Canon Singapore has unveiled their new PIXMA PRO-1 professional inkjet printer, which features 12 separate ink tanks - five monochrome inks for producing professional quality black and white prints; six color (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Red, PhotoCyan, Photo Magenta), and a Chroma Optimizer. The Chroma Optimizer smoothens out stray ink droplets that cause uneven reflection, and add glossiness with anti-bronzing. The PIXMA PRO-1 uses LUCIA pigment inks for accurate colours and a Full-Photolithographic Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) print head to provide the highest possible print resolution. It has three colour modes – colour, monochrome, and a new photo colour print mode which reproduces blues and greens to match visual memory of colours. The printer can achieve a high print resolution of upto 4,800 x 2,400dpi, and coupled with a printing depth of 16-bits per channel, it promises smooth tonal gradations. Other features include Ethernet network connectivity, rear tray that can accommodate up to 20 sheets of photo paper and a manual feed slot which accepts photo paper of up to 356mm (14") wide. The Canon PIXMA PRO-1 will retail S$1,399 in mid February, and available at authorized Canon dealers.
