I would not suggest the Kindle Fire for reading...

Nook STR is what I use and I like it. Okay for reading pdfs. Though offers more than what my kindle did, has noticeably faster page turns than my kindle. Can be rooted, so I installed android apps (mainly why I got it). There are some devs who make apps for the nook itself. There's an app for viewing pdf (Nook pdf viewer) works better than the stock pdf reader. I don't read anything academic or instructional on my nook, mainly novels, so the page flow isn't broken most of the time.
Converting pdf to epub/mobi messes with the page format esp. for magazine/journals/etc.
Get a tablet if back lit displays don't bother you. Kindle fire is okay for what you're looking for lang. I'd get a tablet, but not a 7 inch one, personally.
Thanks! That's very helpful. My main purpose for getting an ereader is so I can follow programming books while coding on my computer. Reading novels is secondary. And from your post and the video, I guess it's very different from the iPad.
I guess I'll just hold out on an ereader.
Again, thanks.![]()
