The Year 2012 is the 66th year under an independent Philippine Republic and too many of us know in our hearts that we were once 2nd to Japan during the 50s and thanks to our centralized system of governance, the Philippines is a tad better than Bangladesh today. When we were next to Japan in the 50s, the Korean Peninsula suffered through the Korean War. In the mid-60s, Indo-China suffered through the Vietnam War. These two nations were devastated by these wars against each other. North Vietnam won against the South and has become a Communist state, while the Korean Peninsula was split into two nations, North and South Korea.

Meaning they basically had to start from scratch while during that same period the Philippines was relatively untouched by war or any major disruption (save for the always present, never ending threat of communist rebels). Ever since then, both Vietnam and South Korea have not only gone on to a major economic recovery but had also made huge strides in technology and agriculture. Meanwhile today, the Philippines may as well be on a rocking chair you get the feeling that you are moving somewhere but in reality there is no movement at all.

How can we even start to discuss about solutions when in fact there is a fundamental problem regarding our identity as a nation.

You guys wanna have a genuine strong republic? an economic juggernaut? THEN WE SHOULD KNOW OURSELVES FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE..

if we could convince some lobbyist to throw off some ideas in congress like passing a bill for category voting, marginalized all voters into small groups, only those educated folks are entitled to vote for presidency nominations, low level public officials cant
be elected for higher public positions etc...you can add up!

i guess our voting regulation is not too updated, mas maayo e update na siya every election...mostly gyud sa ako

based pud sa views ni TS, like there are lots of senators who live in Manila. this is kinda unfair to us who lived here in the South. Sa akoa lang, i think there is a wide spread bias gyud sa Manila. murag lisud gyud kaayo ni siya esolve..i think we have to start from scratch gyud sigoro...
