Default Time for TOTAL BAN on firecrackers/fireworks

There is growing support for a total firecracker ban and I think the rest of Cebu and the Visayas should support it as well.

More senators will eventually support the measure.

Several senators, meanwhile, supported the call for a ban on firecrackers.

Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III said he wants a total ban on firecrackers by this year since they cause injuries, fires and worsen air pollution every year.

Sen. Francis Escudero also backed the proposed ban on firecrackers but said there should be a transition period before it is implemented. He said local manufacturers of fireworks should be given jobs after losing their livelihoods when the ban is implemented.

Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, meanwhile, filed Senate Bill 1523 that would ban the use of firecrackers in residential areas. The bill states that common firecracker areas should be 200 meters away from residential areas.

fireworks suppliers like china and thailand and other countries, BAN fireworks during new year,
What they have is controlled fireworks, meaning kana rang mga selected persons or agencies ang pwedi magpabuto sa fireworks,
other than that no One is allowed para magpabuto specially underage and kids.

this kind of solution is acceptable dri sa Pinas.

More restrictions on the firecracker makers are needed. The proposed ban will eventually get more support.

A look at what happened around the country.

    Muntinlupa banned firecrackers.

The Muntinlupa City government has reminded residents that selling firecrackers is illegal in the city.

The policy is based on the existing Executive Order 14 issued by Mayor Aldrin San Pedro last year, which strictly enforces the firecracker ban in Muntinlupa.

San Pedro said the move aims to protect the public from the dangers of firecrackers, which result to injuries and deaths.

“Every year, many people especially children get maimed or die from firecrackers. The firecracker ban in Muntinlupa aims to prevent this,” the mayor said.

The ban will be enforced by the Muntinlupa police, Public Order and Safety Office, Business Permit and Licensing Office and the City Public Market Office.

The city government no longer issues permits to sellers of firecrackers. Those found guilty of selling firecrackers and pyrotechnics will have their business license revoked.

Over in Davao, there were those who opposed the ban who got sued.

SEVEN of the fourteen people who were arrested for violating Davao City’s ordinance on firecracker ban were formally sued before the City Prosecution Office (CPO) on Wednesday.

Perfecto Cuarteron Camarquez, Grace Wenceslao, Randy Dayag, Minsuri Mapandi, Marvin de Guzman Simeon, Mike Calandana, and Sundey Logronio violated the ordinance prohibiting the use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices.

The charges were filed through the police precincts, San Pedro, Talomo, Buhangin and Toril, under which the accused were arrested.

The ordinance states it is unlawful to manufacture, sell or offer for sale, distribute, possess or use and to discharge or explode any firecracker or pyrotechnic device within the territory of Davao City.

A violator would have to pay a P1,000 fine and be imprisoned for not more than one month but not less than 20 days for first offense, while second offender will be fined P3,000 and imprisoned for not more than three months but not less than one month. A third offense merits a P5,000 fine and an imprisonment of not more than six months but not less than three months.

The minors who were also arrested for violating the ban were already released after being turned over to the Department of Social Welfare for processing.

Now if only Davao raises the penalty rates into the range of P20,000 and higher.
