to ban corruption is to destroy the whole govt. and govt, as an essential element of a state, without it, the phils will never have it's sovereignty back. therefore, one cannot destroy govt, and thus corruption will not be erased.
^ corruption is not something that can be controlled. it is just a definite consequence of anything that violates the three fundamental rights of life liberty and property... Sovereignty emanates from the people and not from the government, it is stated in our Constitution...
Corruption is hard to destroy because of our flawed understanding on how corruption came to be. It does not exist on its own nor can it sustain on its own... It is brought about by good, well meaning intentions of the leaders who all wish for the betterment of their people. They are sincere leaders, very very sincere in uplifting the citizen from their plight, and by trying their best to shower these people with goods and services... You must admit, many won't see any wrong in the preceding statements. However, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Government need not be destroyed, it will just result into anarchy and will just result to oligarchy again. Government should be the enforcer of our fundamental rights, the enforcer of contracts, and guardian of foreign invasion. Government became corrupted when it favors one sector at the expense of the other. Then other sectors will also seek the favor of government. The balance is destroyed and we resort to blaming leaders when in fact it is our expectations from the government that has corrupted the system...
^yes... we must remember that the government is composed of people, like you and me... One thing's for certain with people is that all of them put their own interest first before others. Welfare is a means through they can win favor with the people at the expense of other people. The money they generate from forced contributions (ie, sss, phil health, taxes, penalties, etc...) are channeled not only for the purpose of welfare but also for the purpose of sustaining their careers. Wipe out welfarism and the government people are less corruptible because there is no channel through which certain sectors can corrupt them.
One misconception all of us have is that corruption is solely done by unscrupulous leaders, with no moral values, and has no care for the people... On the contrary, more harm is done with sincere morally upright people doing acts that benefits everyone at the expense of everyone else.
We have a system that banks on a person with ideal qualifications to lead the country. That is unrealistic. We need a system that inspite of the character of the leaders, our rights to life liberty and property are not infringed. That would be a true Republic, respecting individual freedom above anything else. We are a democratic and republic country according to our Constitution, but we are really a socialist democratic country. A pseudo-democratic country with many varying degrees of socialism, shades of communism.... Anything that interferes with the free market and people's choices through central agencies is considered a form of socialism...
hehe.. naa ba country na walay corruption issues? I heard New zealand hasn't any corruption issues..
