do u really think that US politics issues could affect the lives of every filipinos living here in the philippines? When Obama won the US presidency what did our country get at all?

I was mentioning Ron Paul for example purposes only... but to answer the connection...

1. The OFW connection - any economic crisis that affects the US, remittances are affected. And remittances are a great part of our GDP, especially coming from US.

2. The US dollar is the international reserve, per Bretton Woods Agreement, thereby subjecting all fiat currencies to the stability of the US dollar. It is no longer backed by gold since 1971, and the dollar value is only subjected to the perception by others of its possible value. This is a long debatable issue that concerns the economic stability of the world financial institutions.

3. When Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, Dubai almost went under the red. A perfect example of a domino effect. The crisis of US has spread to the EU. But unlike the EU, the US has the sole authority to print money without anything backing its value.

4. Any example set by the legislators of the US, the rest of the world are watching. The Philippines have a close affinity into duplicating the programs of the US, making it their blue print in implementing laws and projects.

5. The price of oil is dependent on the value of the dollar. No matter how much we chant the government to do something about the price of oil, it is powerless and only strive to make it appear it is doing something to appease the people. In reality, the legislations of the US affect the value of the dollar, and the dollar affects the price of oil, and oil affects the price of everything.

6. Obama exacerbated the devaluation of the dollar. It resulted to uncertainties in all financial markets. When dollar fails, many people's wealth will be wiped out. Its not unusual for fiat currencies to fall into worthlessness. Savers will be the most affected. Banks will be ruined, and a possible worldwide pandemonium can happen.

but can't our government stop relying on US in every needs and services that we transact? can't we do our own initiatives by not relying on their cars, hi-tech gadgets and some of their US made stuffs for a way to make us prosper?

but can't our government stop relying on US in every needs and services that we transact? can't we do our own initiatives by not relying on their cars, hi-tech gadgets and some of their US made stuffs for a way to make us prosper?

well, i am against protectionism, like saying that we should do away with foreign products and only consume Filipino goods so that we can develop our own industry and increase jobs, etc... that is protectionism and that will make us suffer in the long term. Short term, we will benefit, but it will dwindle as time passes by.

We can do our own initiatives. Yes we can! But as of current system, all our initiatives are dependent on the government's approval. And the government is a problematic entity. It approves now, but two days later, it changes rules. Or next year, it adds a new requirement. Government displaces capital from where it is really needed to what it thinks is needed.

Shrink the government and we have solved 90% of our problems. 10% will be left to our own power.

If you follow where the money goes, that's also where the power and corruption take place, why not follow how the government money used and keep of these countries almost zero corruption like Sweden, Denmark, Finland and other European countries....They have very simple system, no politicians involve in money matters, that means other agencies are the one making their project materialize, instead politicians are the one checking if the that agencies spend correctly, then another Presidential agencies final checking of the entire proceeding of the project if it was made properly. Now there is accountability of every action, of course less corruption will happen.....

why not follow these kind of system, everyone is crying to stop corruption.....

In regards to government agencies like BIR, Customs, LTO....

In Customs : Fed_Ex Package, imagine 9 signatories maximum hour waiting 3, just to comply those signature, then back to fed-ex to get the package, so only paper works....

BIR: Lots of requirements maximum of 10 different requirements, number of days waiting for approval minimum 15 days until forever. You have to follow up in order to move.

LTO - at least less time now maximum 3 hours, most offices are inconvenient place for waiting, they don't even invest to have decent place for the people to stay and wait. How much money they will get every renewal of license, cars and fines....

Business Permit - new additional requirements added not only requirements but added fees, lots of requirements in different area of the city, well cool place to wait but crowded because they have only certain days to finish the permit. waiting time maximum of 2 days.

I think all of government agencies will take us to finish paper work for minimum of 1 day to forever be forgotten by not continuing the process. If you count it in time = money loss, it's almost billion every month.....

They will create a simple system with few signatories, fast lane, simple guidelines, fewer requirements but specific with bigger importance.....

1. Japan suffers one of the highest cost of living. Their government has always been changing leaders as frequently as every 2-3 years. They have been subsidizing several corporations for the past 20 years, prolonging their recession. The common laborers usually suffer high amounts of stressed and they have high incidence of suicide.

With regards to buying solely their own product, I could not definitely say its effects on their lives... I could only share the reports of sony losing appeal to the japanese as well as other brands sold in a popular computer district, akihabara...

2. There is no difference...if two are of the products of the system then they are not that much different...in fact, future leaders will capitalize on that maxim...."its not the government, its the people in the government! Its time for change! Vote for me!" Its a never ending coaster ride...
