X1950pro by a long shot, considering both are on the same price range.

I prefer x1950pro bro, but maybe 7950gt is also you should consider. Don't mind the gs, coz I believe 7900gt is better than 7900gs. I'm not sure, but I'm 90% sure with it. Its just so happen, that these 7900gs coming out were factory overclock. So this can give more framerate than gt. If you buy the overclock ones. I believe what comparable to x1950 is 7950gt, 7900gs is no match with x1950 pro.

Just choose between 7950gt and x1950pro, these are the two competes.
note: If you like to activate all your games with HDR+antialiasing activiated if available, go for x1950pro.
If you like performance, go to 7950gt, but definitely they will not differ far.

965 is a good mobo for core 2 duo, but if you prefer a better mobo then it should be 975.
But it is not necessary, since 975 is much better if you plan for sli. But its still better in terms in performance compared to 965 even in single gpu.

975's dont officialy support SLi, they support Cross-Fire
