@elvandesantos...yeah,it's true that justices in SC now, specifically the CJ are appointed.but how about the person nga nag-appoint nila, especially the timing of appointment of CJ Corona. You can't deny that Corona is a midnight appointee of GMA.
and he has the majority of the filipino people on his side. We can't help it, that's reality. It will send a chilling effect on the entire judiciary.
And i believe na sa senado, dili masunod ang merits sa kaso, kundi it will be decided along partisan lines and public opinion. Kung kaya ma impeach ang CJ in that way, how much more for the other justices?
Halos pareho ra ang mahitabo sa kaniadto sa impeachment ni erap.
Senate hearing is based on political agenda and evidences are good as nothing.
edwin lacierda is so gay in the interview in this evening's news. oh sorry OT
If the Lower House is aligned with the executive branch, and the judiciary, granted ma tuman ning conviction after impeachment sa CJ and 2 other AJs...ang senate ra ang nag prevent the entire government body into becoming a whole. The new setup will be 2 unequal branches: (1) alliance of the executive-judiciary-and half the legislative body AGAINST the other half of the legislative body (upper house)--even the senate has allies of the president. Goodbye democracy, hello autocracy.

Puppet ni GMA si Corona? Check em':
SC spokesman denounces alleged oust Corona plot - GMA News Online - The Go-To Site for Filipinos Everywhere
Recently, Corona is on the receiving end of President Benigno Aquino III’s criticisms recently, with Aquino accusing him and the Supreme Court of hindering his administration’s efforts against corruption with its recent decisions.
Marquez said the allegations against Corona and the Supreme Court are pure fantasy and baseless. To prove Corona’s impartiality, Marquez enumerated Corona’s judicial record during the present and past administration.
- In Islamic Da’wah Council of the Philippines v. Office of the Executive Secretary, Corona nullified Executive Order 46, which was issued on 26 October 2001 by the former administration.
- In the Secretary of National Defense vs. Manalo, Corona joined the majority in ruling that “[t]he ineffective investigation and protection by government agents under the secretary of defense and the AFP failed to guarantee the right of security of respondents as required by the Constitution.
- Corona also voted with the majority in Central Mindanao University v. The Honorable Executive Secretary, concerning the annulment of Presidential Proclamation 310 that took property from a state university for distribution to indigenous peoples and cultural communities.
- In David v. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the Chief Justice, as a member of a unanimous Court, voted to nullify the warrantless arrests against petitioners David, Llamas and others, and the searches and seizures against the Tribune, under authority of Presidential Proclamation No. 1017 and General Order No. 5 of Arroyo for being unconstitutional.
Asked whether the court sees Malacañang’s hand in the impeachment plot, Marquez said the plot to oust Corona was confirmed by no less than President Aquino’s deputy spokesperson, Abigail Valte.
