Err99 or Error 99 is actually a GENERIC error, meaning dili sigurado ug unsay guba or fault.

These are the common possibilities for the error:
1. Battery Contacts
2. Power Failure
3. Shutter Curtain Malfunction (happened on my camera)
4. Lens Contacts

As of now, it only happened to me once and I forgot the circumstance when it happened.

Last time I heard, Canon Philippines offers warranty conversion for only P 1,800 (better call them). But whether ma-convert nimo or dili, I'd suggest bringing the camera to them. Don't let another shop repair it for you. Yeah, yeah, sometimes the service takes long but we're not the only ones with a Canon camera and if the service queue is long, dugay dyud mabalik ato camera. In my case, wala pa man hinuon naguba ako camera since I bought it.
