to clarify somethings:

WE are not an Earning/Profiting entity... wla man nato gi dala ang name sa atong negosyo... ang kanang uban they are earning, they are comapanies, they are businessmen... ang mamaligya sa stall naa cla profit ma kuha... ang mga companya naay advertising/exposure sa ilang brand...

kita? unsa man imong ma kuha sa imong reg fee? mu kita ka kada access nimo sa abellana? naka advertise ka sa imong photography business? wla... all u get is a tshirt... thats it...

so my point is... dapat we are only charge on what the photocontest can offer... coz we are not earning from the contest.

3. to those who finds it "WORTH IT" kay all access sa abellana u havent joined the photocontest... i tell u its not worth it... maayo pa cguro kung naa ka sa grand stand mas nindot pa imong angle didto kesa sa ubos nag nag tapok ang tanan photogs... wla sad koy nakita nga photo nka daug nga gi kuha sa grand stand... photos that win are those naa sa dalan...

naa nay makuha ani bro oi. we earn the experience, fun and most of all great photos that serves as souvenirs for Sinulog 2012. if maayu lang ka ug composition sa imong mga photos, who knows, that would catch the eye of the judges and earn you a spot, for sure naa jud nay premyo which absolutely more than your 1k investment. also, you can use the photos you took on the event as part of your portfolio to advertise your skill and market yourself as a good photographer, that if your photos are good enough to be advertised. anyway, I cannot attest yet of the outcome since this would be my first time and it's worth knowing to try..

just my two cents again... hope this can contribute to raise your 1k for the reg. bow!!!

it would also be my 1st time to join the photo contest..looking forward ko ani nga event..
regarding sa 1k nga registration..kung mao ni ang paagi nga makatabang pud ta sa SF then why not? kaisa raman pud ni sa isa ka tuig..pasalamat lang pud ta sa mga blessings nga atong nadawat.

I wonder....
try daw calculate based on vortex and ashame's cost sa Sinulog.. if maka abot buh.. like assume ta na 1800 na photog at P1k each that's P1.8M then minus the prize money sa photog + contingent, then ang katong 150k sa contingent (last year there purag 20+ man toh ato ra i.butang ug 20), ilang hotel, food, then sa rent sa SM then sa mga staff sa S.I.

I think that is already irrelevant... because for the reason nga...

they have done the photo contest before nga 750 ra ang reg fee + naa pa jd sponsoship sa canon with the same number of expenses... mas worst pa jd ana... naka photo contest cla nga 350 ra ang reg fee... again with the same number of expenses...

so listing all those expenses will not justify your charging of reg fee nga 1k.. UNLESS naa moy lain DAKO kaayo nga gi gastohan nga ni times 3 man in just 2 years...

The reason nga nag cgeg tubo ang reg fee kay tungod ga bayad mo sa mga dancers...

So katong mu apil sa photo contest... demand jd mo nga mu sayaw cla ug tarong kanang with feelings jd kay kamo baya nag bayad nila... HAHAHAHAHA thats your right... nya kung di mo pa picturon sa contigent... reklamo!!!

Yah thats true bai... but if ni join ka sa last last year you'll still earn those things u mention by just 350 pesos... and now... u'll also get those things u mentioned pero 1 thousand pesos na... why triple the prize? do think that is fair??

for me its a NO... coz ur 1k is not for you as a photographer... ur not advertising your brand during the contest it self...

so, it is not really the 1k amount... but its "WORTH" dili na baya bsta2 ma punit ang 1k... what are you getting from your reg fee? thats the buttom line on y reklamo jd ko...

example let's say 50 ka tao sa isa ka contingent then there are 20 contingents so that's 1000 people then assume ta 3 ka tao sa room @ 1,6k/room so that's like ~334 rooms x1.6= ~P534,000/night then x3 nights = ~P1.6+M, stay pa na sa mga contingents.. wa pa labot atong prize.. @P1k x 1800 = P1.8M.. naa pa ta P200k.. hmmm

kani nlng cguro ako ai..aprob kaau q atung previous page nga suggestion to categorize the photographers nga mo apil sa sinulog. hopefully next year SFI will consider those idea nga " non-participant " and " participant " na ang photo event sa sinulog. sympre mas baratu ang non-participant. murag kini wla najud daghan mag bagulbol kung kinsa man mkadaug. for sure mas daghan mo apil sa non-participant kay wla mi pag-asa sa mga master hehehehe

Before it was relevant since we dont know gi unsa nila pag compute and asa mu adto ang money sa photog contest... and now...

irrevelevant na because we already know nga nag subsidize ta sa mga contigents w/c should NOT be the case... because thats not how it should be computed... coz dili cya FAIR... wla nata tay labot sa mga contigents... they should get their funding for that sa city/prov govt., companies nga mu sponsor, stall renters... ADs sa mga dalan... and other forms of donations from EARNING entities... they should exclude the photocontest from all those other things/expenses that doesn't relate to the photocontest.

if mangayo tag break down, and basing on your computation.. they can just easily put your excess nga 200k under miscellaneous.. hahahah paetz...

I also commend the suggestion nga naay category nga for participants and non-participants sa contest... that is a very fair and acceptable option for all...

I hope SFI will listen coz wla pa jd tawn na cla na minaw sa mga reklamo sukad pa sauna... if ur read the threads last year and last last year about sinulog.. balik2 ra jd ang mga complains... wla juy improvements...


guys kani akong reklamo, di raman ni para nako.. para mani tanan nga into photography and also for the sinulog festival in general...

at least 1 of my goals was answered... that is to know y every year nag increase ang reg fee... at least everybody knows na... at least we know the truth but sad to say unfair cya for us participants...

and its up to you to figure things out... coz again kung ok rani nato.. kataw-an lang ghapon ta ani next year sa atong mga reklamo... wlay kausaban and wlay kalambu-an...
