Michael Mann did Collateral which was about a Bond-like assassin.

Tony Scott did Enemy of the State, which was about espionage, and so is his latest film Deja Vu.

I would love to see Bond done in the style of either Michael Mann's Collateral or Tony Scott's Man on Fire.

but both films are too brute for a Bond film IMO. it probably reflects the respective director's styles.

the movie is good. very realistic compared to other Bond films. and i would say, this is the Bond Mr. Fleming intended Bond to be.

    let's just remember some points.

    1) Bond is an assassin, a killer. its close to impossible to have a man in this kind of profession to have a face like peirce brosnan or the smile like timothy dalton. not after some face-pounding Bond may have recieved in one of his adventures.

    2) He did not care whatever it is he is drinking or if it is stirred, shaken, or gurgled (Casino Royale). he was just recently promoted to double-O status (which is like given big budget for missions and invites to big parties). he is new to that world, coming from just being a plain assassin.

    3) the gadgets make the movie interesting as intended by the movie producers. but gadgets used by real spies/assassins during the cold war were as boring as the morse code. they were exagerated to tickle the minds of the movie goers.

    4) the stunts in the beginning of the movie is by far the most realistic of all the Bond movie intros i have seen. those jumps are really done by a group of men in europe and is counted as an extreme sport. and i think i saw that black guy Bond was chasing in one of those extreme building jumping dvd i once saw.

it would also be heaven to have Michael Mann or Tony Scott do a Bond Film! maybe then well remember who James Bond really is!

    Exactly!

That's what me and some of the people here were trying to bring up - THE DIRECTOR'S STYLES.

Why else would we mention a certain director?

We would like to see Bond done in the style of Michael Mann's COLLATERAL or HEAT, or Tony Scott's MAN ON FIRE or ENEMY OF THE STATE.

Wouldn't that be really cool? To see Bond break from its old style? That's why Casino Royale is on its way to becoming the most profitable Bond film in recent years.

That sport is called Parkour, and the black dude slash terrorist in the movie is Sebastien Foucan.

This movie is definitely one of the best Bond movies ever made. My only gripes were their focus on the Poker games. Maybe it's because I don't gamble and I don't understand the rules, but I just think they kind of overdid it, knowing that a lot of people won't get to relate at all.
