AMD is reportedly preparing a media event next Monday, December 5th, to present their next-gen 28nm GPUs - to be branded Radeon HD 7000 series. While this is not going to be a release day, more information about the much anticipated HD 7000 is expected to finally be presented to the media. The event is being held at London - curiously also the codename for the Radeon HD 7000M notebook - rumoured to be announced in December. Surely, that is not a co-incidence, and we could see the Radeon HD 7000M series being announced on December 5th, with notebooks featuring HD 7000M GPUs shipping in Q1 2012. Of course, it is standard procedure to announce mobile GPUs well before notebooks hit the market. As for the desktop market, several reports and sources suggest the first HD 7000 GPUs will release around CES 2012 time, i.e. second week of January. Till then, we can look forward to some concrete information following the December 5th London event. Source: Nordichardware
