well, salary pays the bills. Its important in a way. But it goes deeper than that. The biggest consideration there is to make sure sab nga happy mo sa inyong jobs. when you make a good salary on top happy mo, you stay there for the rest of your healthy life because i believe we all excel at something we do good at. You have to be enthusiastic, interested in your job and have a total understanding of your company's vision and goals for you to feel like a part of the whole thing, wherein you feel that your job matters because you represent the company you work for. Basta, do what you love and it will bring out the best in you and not just merely loving what you do. My saying that doesn't mean you are stuck at a callcenter all your life cause there's nothing else for you. If you are good at cooking/baking for example and you love doing that, then why not capitalize on that instead of going to a 9-5 job or anytime job when you'll have more freedom for doing the things you love and enjoy. I think this is the point that Charmz is driving at. Salary is not everything. You might have a lower income but happy naman. A higher salary but unhappy naman. Can't have everything gyud in this life that's the truth of the matter.

hmmmm.. one thing.. if you're up for a job when you DON'T even love the job.. then what's the reason for staying? it's the salary right? hehehehe

Like i said in the prior postings, you have options. For most people yes they go for salaries, a job is a job so long as you have something to survive on, correct? but when you have that mentality sooner or later once you get there you are going to want something better too. higher salary better work conditions, etc. part ra sab na sa atong human nature nga walay satisfaction always seeking for greener pasture another way of putting it. You already have a good job and you forget to count your blessings instead you ask for more blessings. Am i correct?

getting hired in a call center, one is expected to be tech savvy (esp tech support) and excellent communicator. those qualities are in the ads. virtues? i wud rather learn them somewhere else.
about money? please give me a break, people work theirr a** out for money, how convenient for anyone to say i choose happiness over money, wait till you wake up hungry one day and ul accept any job.

Do you know how much tech support salaries start here in the States? I know cause my daughter's boyfriend got hired as tech support...his starting salary bag-o lang nag start last week lang anyway iyang starting salary is $53,000. a year. Then divide that to 12 months pay mo net about $4,000. a month ang sweldu, oks na daku na na.

...but you can find happiness and money all at the same time. You just have to keep searching/looking until you land the big bucks. If not, you settle for one or the other and like you said, there's just no choice go for the money, happiness is secondary but read up to my previous post again.

If you're young and single there's not much life-pressure as when you are or probably older. Labi na naa pa gihapon si mama ug papa nga gabuhi wala kaayo'y drive... personal drive ra gyuy mo duso ug mga anak nga ATM gihapon tungod si mama okay ra niya. Okay lang na saon man sad lisud man pud ang trabaho sa atoa hinay² lang gyud.

Money is important, one day you guys will realize, nga sometime we need to make exceptions when necessary. Wait til makaanak mo di bap bahala na unsang trabaho basta makabuhi lang (basta lang pud wala nay lain gyung opportunities). That's why... while you're still young... be bold to start careers that will shape you professionally and make you happy as well.

    Goodluck to you guys.

hah.. murag igo kau ko ani nga topic karon pko ka realize..

    OT cguro ni.. anyway..

i talked with my adviser last week regarding making life decisions and facing major transitions.. i told her about my current situation and dilemma.. i was really being honest with her that nursing is not my first choice and that most of the time especially during clinicals, i'm always at the striving end just to make things work and to keep a satisfactory grade in nursing school..

she told me that it's really hard when you're doing something you have zero or little interest in.. for one, i don't see myself injecting insulins and giving meds in the future.. secondly, i'm not a people person.. third, i hate hospitals and had little exposure in the environment when i was a kid.. i told my adviser all of these stuffs.. she was proud that at least i did all that i could and that the sense of continuing to strive to get that degree is what i consider a very HUGE thing..

so i think the point is, pursue something you think you'll be happy about in the future.. choose a career that fits your interests and not just jump into anything you don't like.. in the end, it's your happiness and satisfaction with what you do that counts.. i feel bad for those nursing students in the Philippines who doesn't want to be a nurse but they HAVE TO just to get a good salary.. murag napugos ba.. but what are we gonna do? lisod man pud kau sa ato.. so the options are limited that you have to make a big sacrifice for yourself..
